Wow. Just wow. June apologists know no bounds. Making a bowl game is NOT EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE to the same as making the ncaa tourney. For starters, over half of teams make a bowl game (70 teams out of 124). There are about 350 hoops teams competing for 64 spots in the ncaa tournament, and besides the conference champs, you don't get in if you play a BS schedule, which would be the equivalent of our football schedule. And if you compare making one of the crappiest bowls to making the tournament, I guess that means we are a 12-16 seed in your scenario. So I don't think beating a Fresno state is the equivalent of beating a #1-5 seed in the tourney. It really is insane how people can be after collecting 6 wins against a bunch of assclowns
Thanks for the personal attacks. I don't think that's necessary. I'm asking questions, not making any pronouncements. And I'm not an apologist for anybody, tough guy. I just love how fellow SMU alums attack each other on here. If you graduated in 2007, I understand - you're just a kid. However, let's keep it civil.

Sorry man not trying to make personal attacks, just trying to argue a point emphatically. Hope there are no hard feelings. We all support the same team

First, it is 68 teams. You can make the argument you just made, or look at hard numbers and see that is 68 v 70. At the end of the day we are an FBS school so we automatically play in the toughest division. Not the toughest conference by any stretch but still in FBS. I guarantee that if we do not advance past the first round of the NCAA tournament in 4 years, people on this board will be saying that Larry Brown needs to step down because he has lost interested due to his age.

And I guarantee people would not say that if we are still recruiting mcD's all Americans and top 10 recruits. Not even a comparable situation.

LB is doing his best. It looks like JJ is doing the minimum to get paid. As long as LB keeps hitting the recruiting trail, less than 10 people on here will want him fired. I'm giving a sanity buffer there.

I doubted because LB seems like he wants to be here and he is recruiting well. If you give people hope beyond mediocrity people will hang with you especially if you if make people believe you want to be here. They will support him even if he does not go that far in the NCAA tournament. I don't think anyone expects us to make the NCAA tournament this year with the gauntlet of a conference that we are in this year. June lost almost all of his blind support after the ASU fiasco.

The difference between LB and JJ? LB recruits 365 days a year. JJ soaks up the sun in Hawaii 260 days a year!

1. LB won't mail it in. He knows a coach is only as good as his players and he wants to coach the best players. 2. He reaches out to the SMU fandom in a way June never has. 3. We won't have to worry about that cause with the players he recruited and the staff he has we will be in the top 25 and in the tournament in short order. Guess what the BB staff understands modern college ball and it shows. Their success make The fb staff look even worse in comparison.
