yeah-you just tell us how bad we're going to suck after Spring Practice and we'll try to line up some powder puff schools in a couple of weeks to make you feel better. We'll just cancel all the schools we've played for 100 years and draw more than 15,000. SMU is not playing a difficult schedule. Sagarin has it at about 75th toughest in nation We are already playing 4 of the weakest teams in the country plus a Division 1AA team. How about we earn something in Year 6. Will we beat one of the Top 100 teams in the Country?

SMU_Allumni, I don't know what part of my above post you disagreed with? I haven't looked at the other schedules but I'm not aware of any of our opponents in past years playing such a tough preseason schedule. As for JJ, he's the one that arranged it. He's 'digging his own grave' so to speak because no one expected us to begin winning our first four games. Go read the historic board. NO ONE! As for my comment about this year being critical for JJ, you and I have covered this before. It doesn't matter what you think or I think about JJ because we aren't paying him. However, it is near the end of his contract and perhaps his tenure as SMU head coach. The big guys will make that decision. As for me, I have stated over and over, my desire is 10 wins per year. Wins are important. Maybe that's something we can both agree on. However, there won't be 10 this year.

Stallion, I don't know what the schedule is next year or the years after. All I can tell you is we are not a Big12 caliber school and we won't become one by getting beaten every week by teams that are way and above us in ability. No one does that. If JJ has weakened the opponents for next year that is one move he has made I agree with. You get better players by having a winning program. At least that's my experience.

Not on the road (same goes for Kansas). Toss up at home.

"We should schedule three FCS teams!"

Are you freaking serious? We just need a new coach that recruits and gives a crap. That's it! We don't need to embarrass ourselves by creating a schedule that the NCAA wouldn't likely allow just to put up a sham 10-win season that everyone knows is a sham. Come on... let's just rip the band-aid off and be done with it. We're not a lost case, we're just shackled to a loser.

SMUer, When you pay the coach's salary you can choose the coach. I don't have that kind of money. In the meantime, getting clobbered on Saturday does not help you recruit. I've never known a player who wanted to play on a loosing team. I didn't and I'll bet you didn't if you played.

No one wants to play on a losing team but plenty of good players think they can turn losing teams around (see Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, Ole Miss, etc).

jpe747, when you are the school's athletic director you can pick a pink pansy schedule for SMU.

Playing crap football against Montsna State doesn't help recruiting either. The problem is the crap football, not the opponent.

JPE, SMUer pointed out why I was laughing out so loud and Stallion backed it up with his facts. 75th toughest schedule with a 2 mil coach in his 6th year... C'mon if you want a pansy schedule then don't expect more than 10k fans in the stands... Also if he were to have pulled off 3-1 record right now then he's allowed to gripe about the fan turnout not barely beating tcu and beating a at-then crappy UCF team.

If we were 3-1 I don't think we would be having an attendance issue. Simple as that.
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
