The contracts may be different and it allows for easier or less easy to release the coach. Also, I'm not sure if alumni are paying Kiffin's contract like our coach. Methinks the boys paying the freight will have some say in what happens.

Per pac12 channel and other reports one main reason given was to salvage recruiting, and concerns about future recruiting. Maybe we should think same way.

Losing the 2nd half 41-7 to a very mediocre cross town rival should get same action as USC did.

Re: Down goes Kiffin
agreed, per SI:
Kiffin’s dismissal comes on the heels of the Trojans’ 62-41 loss at Arizona State on Saturday — a game in which USC gave up 28 unanswered points in the third quarter. According to the school’s statement, USC athletic director Pat Haden informed Kiffin of his dismissal upon the team’s return to Los Angeles on Sunday morning.

That would be a nice PR friendly reason but realistically there's nothing in this class to salvage since the new coach is going to cut them all loose anyway.

Never particularly cared for Kiffin, but I can't help but feel sorry for someone fired in this manner.
Good luck to him.
