I just went to the SMU Letterman's directory for an address. I was shocked that there were no more than 60 former lettermen listed in the directory. I guess my point is that even former lettermen have lost interest as this directory should have several thousand members.StallionsModelT wrote:It should terrify you. I can almost guarantee that if Jones goes 6-6, he isn't getting an extension. Root for the team to do well and let the chips fall as they may....StallionsModelT wrote:Yeah lets go 6-6 again and give Jones an extension so that we ensure ourselves of never doing anything of actual consequence for the next 3-5 years. Geldings' law - what can go wrong will go wrong at SMU. 6-6 with an extension.JasonB wrote:I can almost guarantee that if Jones goes 6-6, he isn't getting an extension. For those criticizing SMT and questioning his fandom, I hope you realize that if Coach Doh had gotten us to the NITs a couple of years ago there would be no LB and SMU would be at best a middle-of-the-pack AAC team which most of you would have been content with. Can't you see the posts now, 'Why we can't compete with the Big Boys!!!!'
As for you SMT, you will learn as you get older, most people play checkers, try instead to play chess.

Orsini wanted to hire Rick Majerus. Getting rid of Orsini was the key to hiring LB. But yes - there had to be a reason to let go of Doh.SoCal_Pony wrote:For those criticizing SMT and questioning his fandom, I hope you realize that if Coach Doh had gotten us to the NITs a couple of years ago there would be no LB and SMU would be at best a middle-of-the-pack AAC team which most of you would have been content with. Alternate Universe Theories:
If SMU allowed Larry Jonson to enroll, there would have been no John Schumate.
If Willie Davis did not dribble the ball off of his foot vs. Tulsa, perhaps there would be no Coach Tubbs and no Coach Doh.
If SMU had beaten TCU in their final game in '97, there would have been no Coach Bennett.
If Alabama had not hired coach Fran, Gary Patterson would be a head coach elsewhere and TCU would be in the MWC right now.
If Hillary beat Obama in the primaries in 2007, we would not in a government shutdown right now and there would be no Affordable Care act.
If Al Gore beat Bush, we could all visit Knoxville to see the Gore Presidential Library at the University of Tennessee.

Is this a quote from the Bill Meek era, the Hayden Fry era, the Dave Smith era, the F. Gregg era, the Tom Rossley era, the Mike Cavan era, the Phil "I've forgotten more football..." Bennett era or something more current??StallionsModelT wrote: Until he's gone there will be no realistic hope of improvement.

The only guarantee is that keeping Jones ensures us of never getting to 9 plus win seasons.

Yep, when that happens we can all watch Ford deteriorate before they fill it in and build a Women's Studies center atop the site.StallionsModelT wrote:I've said it here before, but just you guys wait until our old retirement home oil barons die off and we are left to fund this program with alums that graduated post death penalty. Gerald Ford will likely endow Mustang football. It's here for the ages....
