Still makes me mad to think of that game, add the 2013 TCU game to the list.

West Coast Johnny wrote:The SMU offensive game plan against TCU was a joke. The SMU wide receivers are not capable of challenging a good secondary like TCU's unless they have to worry about the run. I won't say SMU "abandoned" the run because they never really tried to run. As a result, the TCU CBs locked down the SMU WR's and the safeties didn't have to stay honest against a run threat. The result were the twenty sacks and the ten picks or whatever.

A normal team can run the ball on 3rd and 1 and get a first down - But SMU has to chuck the ball down field. SMH.

Nothing new, we've been dealing with this crap for yrs! No OL = no run which equals a bad passing game. Waalaa. 3rd and 1= pass always, doesn't everyone??

I think that 2012 game was 1st and goal at the TCU 1 yard line.

You are correct. It's a shame JJ does not have a goal line package with a blocking back.

What sucks is its also personnel related. Go back and watch when we had shawnbrey. Pitch wide, swing pass wide, etc etc...plus seems like we are missing an oft used play where it was twilk or whomever in the middle of the end zone. Same play DJ broke his collar bone on his freshman year I think

Use one of the LB's as a blocking back, anything is better than a single back. IMO

We have the perfect personnel for inside the 5. QB under center with wishbone type backfield. Line at FB and KC and Shead at RBs. Gaines at TE and one WR. You have run left or right, option left or right, bootleg, drop back, etc.

You could even practice it in the spring with no tackling.

mrydel, please. That would require to much thinking outside the box of, "We do what we do".

Too logical. Hell, we could even call it the 'run n wish'.

I agree mrydel. Mobile QB, pretty shifty RBs +/- fairly powerful (hopefully) FB in line, p.

No reason for our offense to suck SO BADLY in the redzone
