Pony Up is not stupid, but you are insecure.

Pony Up is not stupid, but you are insecure. About 25 feet from the Hillcrest track... With the boots so tall and the writing on the wall...
Re: Ramblings on June. What does Pony Up even mean?
Is it supposed to be like Cowboy Up? or Thumbs Up? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
Re: Ramblings on June.It actually does mean pay up to everyone outside of SMU...
Re: Ramblings on June.
Right you are, it just perpetuates Smu reputation from the 80's... Couldn't be a worse slogan for us. Beat the hell out of anybody!
Re: Ramblings on June.Being told to "Pony Up" all the time for a poopy football product...the juxtaposition only makes my wallet tighter.
June got his gelding from the wife of his billiinaire friend who, to my knowledge, hasn't donated a dime to SMU despite being a prominent Dallasite (I know, an OSU alumnae). Even still, the geldings stuck around do long, reportedly one died. Also cheesy, rope-twirling cowboy > shetland pony? At best, it's a push. June was brought in and immediate unis changed, if he didn't get input, that's on us. Unis changed again 2 years ago...if he didn't have input then, then obviously he has no clout. Luncheons were boring in content and vibe...the highlight was when an overhead projector was brought out. *yawn* to excuses for June's laziness
Re: Ramblings on June.I guess to each his own. I have liked pony up since it began. To me it means to step up and support the program. I certainly understand the money connotations but have not thought of it in that way. My personalized license plates are PONY UP 1 and PONY UP 2.
But that said, I do not know if anything will ever be better or overtake Mustang Mania and the buzz that it stirred up. It was an excellent campaign. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Ramblings on June.Agree, to me it means Buck Up and get with the program. It is always a postiive., not a negative. It is a good slogan if for no other reason than it gets people talking. If someone doesn't know what it means they can ask. Doesn't come close to Mustang Mania though.
Re: Ramblings on June.
You know, I think I was a little harsh on my comment. In fact, I have a great distaste for those that still wish to throw the DP days in our face, so hell yeah, pony up if you wish. It can have different connotations. Mrydel, I respect you greatly as a poster and a long time fan. Beat the hell out of anybody!
Re: Ramblings on June.
What part of PONYfans are you unclear on? "It's a couple hundred million dollars. I'm not losing sleep over it." -- David Miller
Re: Ramblings on June. The whole pony up slogan doesn't bother me... I really think we can find bigger issues to b**** about than pony up.

Re: Ramblings on June.Instead of "Pony Up," perhaps it should be "Ramble On!". . . Starting the day after the 2013 football season is complete.

Re: Ramblings on June.
I agree. This entire string of comments is certainly all over the place, but I was shocked to read that JJ said "what can we do to get rid of that little horse." Kind of contradicts the "stolid, agreeable, quietly competent" persona he seems to want to project; its pretty radical and controversial. You'd never hear him say that on the record. It merely stokes my dislike of the guy. That said, I have no idea how to solve the problem of SMU football. MY BAD. I didn't realize it was not JJ that said that. I'll apologize for what might seem as a personal attack on him, but not for the fact that I still don't like him. Last edited by Brooklynhite on Thu Oct 03, 2013 1:01 pm, edited 1 time in total.
