Kudos, jpe747. A great gesture!
I hope that the university is able to come through for your group.

jpe747- Thanks for putting this together. We obviously need more fans with creative ideas like yours. You never know which of those students will decide that SMU is where he wants to go and will become an avid fan.

jpe747- curious how many kids showed up. What were their impressions of the game? IMO-there were some good 'life lessons' to be learned from that game.
Re: Building a fan base
It would have been nice if the children could have been provided an opportunity to be personally introduced to the football team prior to the game, so long as it did not interfere with team's game day preparations. It actually could provide the team additional motivation to play better knowing that they have young fans in the stands to cheer them on.

Not sure a 'pre-game' meeting would work as it might affect the team being totally focused on the game. However, maybe having the kids lined up greeting the team as they come out of the tunnel might work and would certainly be exciting for the kids.

Re: Building a fan base
We've been targeting kids for 25 years. They've all grown up. Our stadium is still empty. Next idea.
