no doubt its his association to the rangers that's fueling all this speculation & can u blame him?

as for me, NO ONE HAS THIS THING IN THE BAG until the fat lady sings!!!

(how's that for sensitivity training instruction?)
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

The only negative to the SMU proposal is availability of land.

I first thought "presidential library" when Bush actually got the coronation...er...nomination. I told anybody who would listen that we should attempt to get it.

My understanding of any plan that SMU would put together is that there would be but a single monkey wrench...LAND. Most presidential libraries are unique to their particular president. However, Kevin Knox, one of the administrators in the B-school, told me a couple of years ago that libraries have some bottom line requirements, most of it to do with parking as well as space, resources, and security to house critical historical documents, pictures, and the like. Some, like President Clinton's, have some significant power requirements and architectual nuances. That kind of stuff goes into the planning buckets well before when they are getting ready to lay brick and mortar, for obvious reasons. If we are to get the library, you can bet your pony that Turner & Co. got that stuff worked out. That includes somewhere to put it.

Frankly, if SMU gets the library, I would think that there is a better than even chance it will be either on the site of the current University Gardens on the West side of Central, or it will be just East of Central and just south of Yale/SMU. That area is owned by the school. SMU has been quietly (and in some cases, not so quietly) buying property along a 120 degree line from the northern side to the southeastern side of campus and on the other side of Central along the eastern edge of that line. They have sucked up anything that anybody wants to sell. My sense is that Turner & Co. are aware that they are constrained significantly with big projects, namely the library, and they began attempting to alleviate that on or around January 21st, 2001. Congestion on campus (i.e. buildings) does not seem to bother anybody anymore, and the old constant complaint that SMU's physical plant & maintenance was underfunded doesn't seem to be an issue any longer.

So, I say Go BIG. Make it so complicated and large and untouchably none-of-her-business that Laura Miller gets a headache every time she thinks about it.

My two cents. Have a nice day.
