Well, everything else has been tried. I will watch the SMU game on ESPNN. I will see a few people at the game. I will see tons of empty seats. I will see another loss. It is called outreach. Just because you advertise in various bars/clubs means nothing. You are trying to sell tickets, right. What is the problem? Can't SMU sell tickets in a bar or go for outreach? Is this the problem? SMU can not reach out to others? I don't need the ER, maybe SMU does. Does outreach mean, well, depending on who you are?

Outreach to good places not bars, especially considering most bars couldnt give a crap. I would say churches of all affiliations, local city newspapers especially the ones where our players are from, give tickets to all the players friends, coach's friends etc just to get the unsold tickets to people who might buy food and drinks and make us look good on tv, and hopefully work on gameday experience and win games in a fun way so they become reoccuring "customers."

With a bar you can have more than just beer. Some of us would prefer a good G&T. Unfortunately I will not be in the premium seating so it will be beer or an ice cold cup of water.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

That is a hard thing to deal with. My condolences to her, her family and her friends who are all hurting right now.

I think we should apply for private club status in section 104.

I assume this would be limited one section of the stadium and only available to a select few. TCU has its club sections where alcohol is sold but it is restricted to that area only.

Great idea! I'll be glad to add my signature to any application or petition aimed at that.

Guess it has not worked. I want SMU to win. I want SMU to have fans in the seats. I want SMU to get off this, I am to good thing. ASU advertises in bars, so does UA. They love it. Don't know how to change a culture. SMU has to decide if they want to play big time FB or not. If they continue to have no fans, in the seats, then fold it up.

Building a relevant program that can land quality recruits (see SMU basketball) hasn't been tried yet. That will definitely work better than trying to pander to barflies who probably won't be too happy with Ford's policies on alcohol sales/consumption.

Just me. How long do these rich guys continue the $. Yes, being relevant goes a long way. Everyone THOUGHT JJ would make SMU relevant. It did not work with JJ. I am not a billionaire. I have no idea how they think? Don't know the write offs, don't know the commitment? Yes it has been tried. 2M$ at least has been tried. Am not advocating bar flies. I am advocating real outreach. I do think you guy's are not getting this. Maybe I should have used the word club. Like tennis. I am just saying, reach out to the people living in Dallas, you don't have to like them. One can't say, why no fans, then say we don't want you here then, why no fans?

Again, see SMU basketball for details on how to make a program relevant (the best kind of community outreach). What you don't seem to be getting is all this running around Dallas pandering to different socioeconomic groups is useless without being able to sell them a relevant product.

Out reach to churches, no bars. Sounds like a recipe for the same blue hair "sssshhh!" crowd we've always had. Exactly the opposite direction we need to go.

Exactly right. Let's see how SMU / Dallas responds to the 1st meaningful product our school has sold in 25 years, we might be pleasantly surprised.
