Weather drove ppl away, but I thought it was great fotball weather. Section 104 was a lot of fun to be in, the players fed off it

Twelve years ago the Rutgers crowd was less than we saw in Ford today. There were weeds and bushes growing in their open end zones and their wooden bench seats were so rotted out that I fell through more or broke more than one each time I attended a game. Rutgers people should not forget that they were the worst football team in NCAA history prior to the arrival of Greg Schiano as head coach. To the credit of Schiano he literally built the program and along with a supportive AD built training facilities and a totally remodeled and expanded stadium. Their challenge to become competitive, as far as I am concerned, was a far greater challenge than rebuilding SMU after the death penalty. At least SMU had a football history, tradition a great city....etc. Rutgers had nothing and was a school hated by most NJ high school students who refused to go there because of their arrogant academic attitudes and faculty disrespect for sports. It is all about getting the right coach who can recruit, build alumni and faculty support and put a good product on the field that generates media and fan interest.

I was a Rutgers fan when I lived in NYC from 1995-02. They claim some glory years in the '70s and of course playing the first college game against Princeton. Indeed, they were undefeated in 1976 and allowed more than ten points just three times that year. However they basically played a Patriot League schedule. It appears that their FIRST bowl game (Garden State) was in 1978 against AZ State and they lost 34-18.

After the undefeated season, they started regularly playing, and getting beat by, Penn State. They generally upgraded the schedule. They joined the Big East in 1991 and through 2004 had only played in one bowl game.

In 2001 I went to a game at Rutgers where they were playing Pitt and Larry Fitzgerald. I sat in the alumni section on the 50 and got my ticket for $5.00. They lost 42-0.

agree that the few fans who stuck this one out had great energy. we can only imagine how this team might perform if there were 30,000 in Ford for every home game making that kind of noise when it was needed

sure hope Mustang fans will support this year's hoops team

I will agree that there are a lot of folks who just don't care. Some might think 'looks like ANOTHER blow out, I am cold, wet, and out of here'.

Seems like a ton of people did not know/believe that the weather was going to turn south. The bookstore got a ton of business selling cold weather gear. I bet a lot left because they could not stick out the cold.

I LEFT AT HALFTIME. Not because I am crappy fan, but because I brought a pregnant wife and 2: 2-1/2 year old twins with me. They were huge troopers for sticking it out as long as they did. I almost sent them packing with the intent of taking the dart rail home, but I like my family and being married so I chose differently.

But boy I did not take my eyes off the tv when I got home. The team just kept fighting and it was great to see them not give up!

Everyone has their reasons for leaving when they do. Maybe we should be happy they just show up in the first place. So many don't even bother. Rant over.

All the concerns are fine. Now let's win a game against an FBS opponent.

It sucks donkey-balls and all you excusing it because June Jones are ridiculous. Gee we only gone to 4 [deleted] bowls in a row I'm going to get a brew Brah. This program has no future with that entitled attitude.

We absolutely blew ballz the first 3 quarters...worse than most high school teams fundamentally...our sidelines showed no emotions. The crowd clapped sarcastically when we were saved from a circus-like fumbled punt because they were offsides...because that was the "best play" we had made in the game at that point. It was a joke. It was raining. NOBODY should be embarrassed about leaving that game. And you should be pissed that the team showed absolutely no heart or real effort three-fourths of the game...wtf?!?

I'm glad that those that stayed were rewarded with effort and fight, finally! They deserve it. I'm glad they were loud, it was a helluva comeback attempt...you guys hit the lottery. Quarters like that typically only happen in Hawaii.

It is surprising that the head of the red and blue army is not all in on supporting the team and the program, not the coach, the team and the program. Obviously says a lot about the program that someone who used to be so excited has gotten so bitter, but I am surprised that someone who is a leader in that organization can't stick it out for 6 home games a year and is so sensitive about a few people criticizing people for leaving early.

104. Rows 19 & 20. Only one there with 5 mins to go in regulation. Nothing new. But this was. Got asked by a dipstick to sit down after we had pulled within 1 td of a tie. From somebody that came back in to the stadium after leaving.
