How JJ Could Change It All

2. I rededicate myself to taking SMU to the next level including fund raising for an IPF.

3. After soul searching, I realize that a great university's traditions should be embraced, e.g., Peruna, Mustang Band, and blue jerseys.

If that happened (and I not holdings breath), I would change course 180 degrees and become a JJ supporter.

Are you NUTS Statler. I don't give a crap what he says. He would get tired of all the work within a week.

I'm sure I will be label the ultimate sun shiner but JJ was very engaged in the game. The non call pass interference was one example. JJ was all over the officials, He got the referee and the far side line judge to explain it to him. He was still ragging the near side line judge when the ball was snapped and the near side line judge had his back to the field and wasn't in position. JJ was all over the official the entire game. And to say JJ wasn't into this game when we made a 22 unanswered fourth quarter points to tie the game would be an absurd observation.

I usually don't watch JJ as much as others as I usual am more concerned about the game than our coaches emotions. But since so many have observed his demeanor and concluded he was disengaged, I decide to stop watching the coverage, line play and receiver routes and watch JJ. After my observations, I didn't feel he was anything other than involved, engaged and definitely gave a Darn about the game.

I have read so many comments from others that JJ is disengages, cashing a check, doesn't care and so forth.

I watch the team and action on the field and not the coach so I really had no idea what he was doing.

Since it was obvious to so many, I decided to miss a few plays and watch the coach and couldn't detect any of the detached, uncaring not engage behavior others have observed.

From what I can tell, he was very much in this game and very much working to win.

I don't know if he gets fired, contract extension or a big hug and kiss from Turner after the season. And for me, I don't care about all that talk at this point in the season. That is for after the season.

The kids are playing hard and some things are gelling. It would be ashamed to jerk the coach or even introduce that controversy into the players' world at this point. The season isn't over and there are signs of improvement.

So no, I don't see some Scrooge moment. The only difference I witnessed was GG wasn't running to the sideline every play (which might appear to be that Jones in 'engaged') this year. Maybe he should go back to that as it does make him appear 'engaged'.

Every touchdown or big play let-down, I look at the sideline. Most times I don't see anybody upset, I don't see coaches gathering players to make adjustments, I don't see players pumping up or encouraging other players...half the team isn't even looking at the game...I don't see any of the behaviors I associate with competitiveness. To June 's credit, I did see him go out and say something to Loftus' face once...which was encouraging. If I saw that more often from June or his coaching staff, I wouldn't be nearly so critical. As it is, the sideline seems mostly disengaged and with little concern with our mostly bad play. It's terribly dis-engaging to think you want this win more than they do. That may just be appearances, but appearance is everything for a fan.

Would not change anything for me, I care about wins. None of the three things you listed said anything about wins this year. He needs wins this year or I would not want him around no matter what he said.

At $2.1 million per year, no coach should ever, under any circumstance, have to "rededicate" himself or his staff to anything.

A loss is a loss is a loss. Stats don't mean squat. Bottom line is that, once again, they got whipped early in the game and were able to start a comeback when Rutgers played soft defense up 35-14 before they got extra conservative on offense.

It was pretty evident that Rutgers had one foot on the bus with 11 minutes to go and Louisville looming on the schedule Thursday.

Great credit for the effort to make it a game, but there is no excuse for falling behind 21-0 at home. No, they didn't quit, but they sure did dig a hole.
