The "water cooler" impact of SaturdayI actually had four people bring up the subject of SMU football with me at work Monday.
Yes, all of the conversations were positive. Shake It Off Moody
Re: The "water cooler" impact of SaturdayWhile out walking my dog on Sunday with a SMU T-Shirt on, I actually had someone say, "Tough game for the mustangs yesterday, I thought they had it won". That has never happened before. At least the game had an audience it appears. Wish we could have pulled the win out.
Re: The "water cooler" impact of SaturdayI did too, people want SMU to do well. Next, we need to get them to the games.
Re: The "water cooler" impact of SaturdayAs the 4th quarter and OT unfolded, I remember thinking to myself, "If the Ponies can put on this kind of show on a semi-regular basis, then ESPN could fall in love ala Boise and Louisville." As putrid as it started, that game ended up being fantastic (despite the result). I've re-watched the 4th quarter and OT 3 times since Saturday.
Re: The "water cooler" impact of SaturdayIf we can avoid an emotional hang over from Sats game, this could actually be the catalyst we need to shake us lose and get on a run … esp with some of the upcoming games that we can build on further, If the coaches use this the right way. I actually wish we did not have a bye this week. Although, I know Shead an others can probably use the additional rest/heal time.
Had a buddy from out of state call me, said he missed the first half, but could not turn the TV off the second half and missed the start of his kids B-ball game.
Re: The "water cooler" impact of SaturdayAgree w the above. Had several people call at the end of the game
Re: The "water cooler" impact of SaturdayThat also happened to me, several phone calls. Can't believe so many were watching SMU. Maybe this 11AM start isn't such a bad thing for us at this stage.
Re: The "water cooler" impact of SaturdayIt is sort of like the opening band at a concert that gets you going as you wait for the star band. Saturday morning and everyone is ready for some football. The main draws of the day aren't until 1:00 or 2:00 in the afternoon so the 11:00 games get you some relief for your football craving.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: The "water cooler" impact of SaturdayI received a lot of similar comments from coworkers
Re: The "water cooler" impact of SaturdaySame here. My boss was chatting me up about the two point conversion first thing on Monday morning. He never talks to me about football.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: The "water cooler" impact of SaturdayI had 2 co-workers ask me today if they can get tickets for the next home game. Got to love it.
Re: The "water cooler" impact of Saturday
Next home game is against Temple. . . Don't think getting tickets for the game should be a problem ![]() 2015 INDIANAPOLIS OR BUST
Re: The "water cooler" impact of SaturdayUT Alum co-worker watched the game and told me he wished G2 was quarterbacking his Horns this week. He also enjoyed the game
