Post Game ConferenceFirst of all, I'd like to say how great it is that we get to see the post-game interviews, thanks interwebbers.
There is a lot of negativity about JJ on this board, as has been discussed ad nauseam, but I would suggest that anyone who does not think that June's interview showed how much he believes in these kids and how much last Saturday hurt him, is letting frustration get the better of them. The kids echo a lot of what June says, it's clear they have a culture of togetherness, and I think that's a good thing. Let's hope that, and Rambo says, they build from the comeback. It's hard to explain when looking at a 1-4 record, but we have seen some truly clutch football by our Ponies, in the 4th quarter of this one and in the last two minutes of the MSU game. We haven't seen come from behind drives like those in a long time. Forgive my being perhaps over-sensitive, but when June says he told the kids he loves them, I was inclined to believe him. Re: Post Game ConferenceLet's just hope we do not have to come from behind against Memphis.

Re: Post Game ConferenceI think jj had more emotion (and probably disappointment) on this post game conf. that any I have seen.
Re: Post Game ConferenceI saw the interveiw and when he said he loved his palyers, I instantly thought that was our Jerry Sandusky moment to fire him! 8-O
Re: Post Game ConferenceI will say, although I am a pretty harsh critic of many things about June, he does seem to care about his team MEMBERS (not really the school, traditions or fans). And the players do seem to connect with him - which is strange since he seems so stoic and removed to me. Maybe more goes on in the locker-room that we are not privy to - but he is a players coach I think.
The sad thing - is I think that means he could really impact the team when he DOES choose to show emotion. In fact - once he stared tearing into the refs midway through the game the team started to rally. might be coincidence - but maybe someone in a position to speak with him can point that out. when you are known for being a cool cucumber and then you go all Patterson on someone - it carries more weight.

More of a Jerry Jones moment when he spoke of the Denver loss. Last edited by Rebel10 on Tue Oct 08, 2013 3:53 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Post Game ConferenceDelusional in the eyes of many, but I think June thought we were going to go 8-0 in conference. Fell at the first hurdle, and we shouldn't have.

Re: Post Game Conference“What though the radiance which was once so bright
Be now for ever taken from my sight, Though nothing can bring back the hour Of splendour in the grass, of glory in the flower; We will grieve not, rather find Strength in what remains behind; In the primal sympathy Which having been must ever be; In the soothing thoughts that spring Out of human suffering; In the faith that looks through death, In years that bring the philosophic mind.†– William Wordsworth Before I finished reading your post I started reciting Wordsworth.
Re: Post Game ConferenceI think jj was expecting to win the conf. and then go to a BCS bowl and win. At that point he could ride off into the sunset as a hero and say that he did what he came to do. However, that looks less likely since we may struggle to just get to any bowl game.
Re: Post Game ConferenceThis press conference hits on the almost bi-polar nature of JJ's tenure here that I have never completely gotten my head around. His players would march through the gates of Hades for him, and he for them, yet he doesn't connect with the university, alums, fans or the community at large and in fact seems to show almost disdain for them. His demeanor would make one think he does not want to be here, yet it has been reported that he did a helluva sales job to get LB here by telling him what a great place it is to be. I really don't know what exactly to make of him as a coach or a man. I don't completely buy the "he's here just for the paycheck" argument, yet I don't see enough effort and improvement to completely discount it either. I think redpony is right; he expected to march through the conference, grab that last BCS autobid and ride off into the sunset. Now I don't know what his end game is or how he gets there.

Re: Post Game ConferenceHopefully the end game is a 7-1 conference record. That would be just fine.
