95.9% of Ponyfans pencil in losses as evidenced by the pre-season record predictions on
here.

Doesn't matter what Ponyfans pencil in as zero percent of Ponyfans are the Head Coach of the SMU Football team.

But he really cares about the school, has delivered a few nice regular-season wins, and his teams show up ready to compete.

Agree with CenTx. If we played an ACC schedule, we would still be in our bowl drought.

C-USA has been a big drawback to our recruiting. I'm not saying that we would have been to 4 bowls if we had been in a BCS conference over the past few years, but we would definitely find a bigger, better pool of players who would be interested in coming here.

Then why did he tell a group of supporters that he penciled in a loss against Rice last year? I was there and witnessed him saying it. I honestly don't care what he does with his pencils, but you don't tell boosters that you expected to lose, especially against Rice.

Not a smart comment by JJ. Not in the least.

Mason also said on TV that they don't really prepare for the Navy option because they only see it once a year. Which is why our record against them is so stellar.

If its against Rice last year, it's coach's speak meant to motivate players to not take the game
lightly since we've only won at Rice once in the last 25 years. Our win was during JJ's term.

I wondered where this rumor that JJ pencils in losses came from. We had coach McCarty telling us we were 2 TDs down before we started the game. If that wasn't "penciling in a loss against xxxx", then I don't know what is :?: And back then game scores were usually like 21-14.

We won that game, and district :!: SMU won the SWC a year later :!: Coach McCarty later became AD at SFA :!:
May the forth be with us.

No. Just no.

It's not a rumor because it happened, and it was said to justify the loss. They had "planned" for it in their quest for 6-6.

Telling your team to play with a sense of urgency as if they were behind is in no way the same as telling them "I expect you guys to lose".

And look at the results! As you admit yourself, your team won, June's team lost. Have you figured out yet which one is a more effective message for a coach to deliver :!: :?: :!: :?: :!: :?: :!: :?: :!: :?:  :!:  :?: :!:  :!:

Could be if he was trying to use anger as a motivator. That no good sunuva... Thinks we're no good... We'll show his a** a thing or 2.

I think this was RIDICULOUSLY taken outta context by the JJ haters on here.

Our players never look angry, motivated, or fired up.....they look intimidated every time we play someone somewhat decent.
