Craig longhorn Way is way to busy with his hands down the longhorns pants, to credit any Mustang!

"welcome to the real world?" I'm pretty sure I have forgotten more about SMU and ut football, before you soiled your first diaper.

Well It's been a few years since I soiled my first. Don't get defensive, I was simply pointing out the reality that College Football in Texas is severly slanted in the longhorns favor. I don't like it either, sorry if the comment came out the wrong way.

I'd be excited too if I knew I'd be announcing games involving had Jamal Charles and WR Jerimichael Finley for the next 4 years. I thought they probably were the most impressive players-but Sanders wasn't far behind. Sanders got his due in the second half.

I watched the whole game, and i can't remember Way mention Sanders going to SMU. I did hear Shea Walker give props though. The only thing Craig Way missed, was some guy in the parking lot wearing a Longhorn t-shirt! lol MOST OF THE TIME i THOUGHT i WAS WATCHING A THREE HOUR LONGHORN INFO COMMERCIAL!

It did seem like a UT recruiting infomercial. Nicely put.

And as for the "I'd be excited, too" comment .... I can see your point, but there are guys every year who go to a big school like UT and don't pan out (see Robert Timmons, etc.) I don't know if Craig Way is a UT alum or not, but his job there is as an announcer, not a cheerleader. Especially on a game like last night's game -- that wasn't a UT-funded broadcast, so there's no room for homerism to the damned Horns. His performance didn't make me dislike UT any more (frankly, I'm not sure that's possible). But it did make me view Way as a joke.

I'd hazard a guess our own Rich Phillips would have been a great improvement. Yes, RP is enthusiastic during the SMU broadcasts, but he's not an SMU alumnus and it shows. I've heard him broadcast other games (including high school games) and he calls the game with the same passion and excitement on every one. Rich does a terrific job, and would have been a whole lot better last night than Bevo Way.

it was a UT recruiting advertisement because UT had by far the best collection of players in the game. And your right UT has several players every year that don't "pan out". That's because they have about 2-3 other 4 star and 5 star guys at the same position who are better than they are. You want to compare the record of UT to the other Texas schools that sent a lot of players to the game over the last 5 years? I think most criticism of UT on this board is simply petty jealousy as if they give a rats [deleted]. I don't see how any announcer doing his job could not spend a good part of the nite lauding Charles, Finley, McCoy and several other top UT players with outstanding performances. charles, Finley and MCoy did account for over 415 yards in Total Offense not even including special teams. That's a lot in an All-Star Game and all three deserved some credit. Not to mention Charles scored 3 TDs, Finley scored 2 TDs and I know McCoy threw at least 1 TD pass. How do you ignore 6 TDs?

Now Grapevine Mustang has an idea!!! We need to get in touch w/ FSW & THSCA & lobby to get not only our own Rich Phillips but Craig Swann to call the game next year. There is no homer like our Mr. Swann, and of that we can be proud.

I have a contact with FSSW, though I don't know if he would have much say in the matter.

I don't know why everyone is upset.. Craig Way is genius!
