Maybe we should break it by telling people to "Pony up" and by inviting them to our "soirée"

And make sure to tell them they aren't allowed to park in the surrounding neighborhoods.

I occasionally share a ticket with a work colleague or with a visiting friend who wants to check out our Blvd scene...when they get to the game they are surprised at how small our stadium/crowd is and confused by our play because they had heard JJ had really turned things around.

It sounds overly harsh but I really think that is the overall impression of someone who walks into Ford who knows little-to-nothing about SMU football. We can pooh-pooh them as a-hole people but I really think they represent the "missing butts" we are trying to fill. Impressing first-time visitors is key.

That part floors me to no end.... Talk about perpetuating the stereotype of being unwelcoming

It's good that even people in New Jersey recognize that we are "ultra rich." Good for our resumes.

Is it just money keeping us from getting an IPF? If not what is?

That may be part of it but I would also think that lack of a suitable location might also be a factor.

Where does an IPF even fit on campus? Do you build it on top of the intramural fields? Replace the existing practice fields? Across Mockingbird with the new tennis complex if it would fit?

It would fit anywhere they wished if it were a priority. They have said it will get done but it was not on the current to-do list.

I thought the soccer field is supposed to be moved over to the south of the Bush Library and the IPF would go where the current soccer field is. Maybe I'm wrong, though.

I don't belive there is enough room south of the Bush library for a soccer stadium...yes stadium. You need more than just a field not to mention a track for the track team.

Of course if SMU was willing to give up the income from the strip center at Airline and Mockingbird, the IPF could go there.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
