Hart's papa is AD at Tennessee - after what he did to the Vols, you really think his son would touch Kiffin? No way.

I hope Hart's list looks something like this:

Morris
Smart
Petrino
Monty
Herman
Gray

If you take of the ridiculous victories over Division 1AA schools (Elon and Presbyterian????? WTF). While June has exactly a .500 record against Division 1A schools since 2009 (eliminated transition 1-10 season in 2008), Paul Johnson has an even worse record against Division 1A schools over the last 4 years at 20-22. Georgia Tech is a program that had gone to about 6 straight bowls even before Johnson showed up. As some great recruits have left for NFL, Johnson has been unable to replace them. Again, a program built without strong recruiting is a house of cards-IT JUST DOESN'T SHOW UP FOR 3-4 years despite the fact that both are regarded as Coaching geniuses

What's his record against Div1a while at NAVY...

If you exclude his first season there...that is.

vs. 1a

03 = 7-4 (but lost to 1aa De, lost to ND 27-24)
04 = 7-2 (also beat 1aa's De and Ne)
05 = 8-4 (all FBS)
06 = 9-4 (lost to Tulsa in 2OT, also beat 1aa UMass)
07 = 8-4 (but lost to 1aa De, beat ND/Pitt)

That's 39-18 vs. Div 1a while "recruiting" what you could at Navy.

However, a quick review of these schedules shows a lot of Rice, AFA, Army, E Mich, Temples, etc...bad Rutgers

Also, their records at their current jobs against BCS conference opponents:

JJ: 2-9
PJ: 35-25

Won't be surprised if the school and not the CoC is paying the salary for the next head coach and if true, the budget won't be $2 million per year........

I think SMU looking at a high level coach who was fired because of performance on the field like a Lane Kiffin, Rick Neuhiesel, or Houston Nutt would be a disaster. If you cant be successful at a place that has tons of resources, how can you be successful at a place with limited resources? And are there any examples of a BCS coach who was fired for not winning who went down a level, had crazy success and then went back up a level?

if they were fired for off field issues like say Petrino or Leach....I'm all in! But of course, we would never go for somebody like that. Sigh....we have a proud history or making the impossible more difficult.

Why would you automatically assume that a coach who was fired for not winning could not improve if he moved? Maybe he learns from mistakes or maybe he walks into a better situation than he had been in before. Gene Chizik went from a relatively bad record ( not fired I know) and coached a school to a national championship. Good timing on his behalf.

Hayden Fry was fired, went a step down, and came back pretty well.

Relatively? He won 5 games in 2 seasons (3-9, 2-10 -- 1aa and Kent State)

In 2008, Iowa State won their first two games against South Dakota State and Kent State before losing their final 10 games to finish the season 2–10. Among all 119 Division I FBS teams, the team ranked 111th in total defense, 115th in passing defense, and 95th in rushing defense

I knew it was bad but I knew he was not fired so I played it easy.

My point was for a coach who lost at a place with a lot of resources (Neuhisel, Kiffin, Nutt, Shannon), it's impossible to imagine them being successful at a place with less resources like SMU.
