Scots QB Brooks Burgin

Post by StallionsModelT »

Kid looks like he's going to be a pretty good prospect next year. Maybe with the right coaching staff we can convince him to stay close to home. Will he be a highly sought after recruit?
Back off Warchild seriously.

That'd be a great way to increase attendance too if we played him as a true freshman.

Not sure if the coaches know where Highland Park HS is, or that they're even suppose to recruit at Highland Park

Since June got here, there have been only two kids to commit from HP... ....

William Barns last year, and Zach Boyd in '08.

That's absolutely pathetic.

I can say i actually do not think the SMU coaches should necessarily recruit HP for the sake of recruiting HP. Not at all. Having said that, Burgin has some legit tools and good intangibles too. Physically, he is fast, 4.55 or 4.6 straight ahead speed (apparently squats around 400 lbs believe it or not), has light feet, and a good arm. He is smart, and a leader. I know being a great kid is for the YMCA, but he is also a GREAT kid.

Burgin's smallish right now at 6-1, 175. Interesting that he's the third of his brothers to be an HP quarterback.

I agree, but there has to be some guys that have come out of HP that are better than some of the duds we've managed to find.

If Burgin is 6-1 ill eat my hat. 5-11 probably. Great athlete and great player.

HP has senior o-line tony Richards, who will be a beast and is supposedly getting interest from big 12 schools and has not heard from us. Son of David Richards. Yes THAT David Richards. The best offensive lineman ever to play at SMU.

Someone was telling about that. If true, that's just another slap in the face of our tradition by this staff. One of our all-time greats deserves much better.

So we should just give him almost $300K when his kid might not be a D-1 athlete?
