I told a friend at halftime when we were up 31-3, that it would be a nailbiter, we are the masters of disaster.

Didn't see him drop a single pass, either. I'm not saying he was perfect. Far from it. But all season, we have started out slowly. Today, we didn't, so that's an improvement, and I'm in favor of improvement. Above all, an ugly win (and make no mistake, this win was ugly) is better than a pretty loss.

Coaches teach how to carry the ball tight to the body. Coaches teach QB's to not lock in on a receiver, to make better decisions on the field. Yes it does fall on the coaches.

seriously? I guess it has nothing to do with the players lack of ability

CP, heck yes it has to do with players ability as well. I interpreted his comments as more about execution and fundamentals. Also, that recruiting thing.

I would have been OK with a 12-15 point win-even with the player mistakes-if I thought the coaches were making the right calls to preserve the win. Instead, they threw gasoline on Memphis' fire and they are damn lucky it didn't bite them in the [deleted]

I agree with Stallion although I think we DO have at least some of the players. Why aren't we playing Gaines more at H back for example?!?

You can hate JJ all you want. We showed huge progress today. D played very well, O played great, special teams is shaky. We were never going to lose that game.

Today we were underdogs on the road and we annihilated Memphis in the first half. Next week we roll the Owls at home. Great game by JJ.

You are talking like Memphis is a top 50 team. Great game or great first half? If that guy had not gotten called for leaping over the goal line on the int we would have been in trouble. I knew the JJ supporters would talk like we just beat Alabama if they beat Memphis.

Concur 100%. Let's not make that mistake again.

Despite all the mistakes made by Memphis this game could easily have been an OT game if their field goal kicker had converted a short range try in the first quarter.

Memphis' mistakes did not stop them winning this game. Our mistakes made the score respectable. We owned that game.

Only on PonyFans can a head coach get blamed for a win.
