AP Top 25 - Mizzou, Baylor, and Texas Tech in top 10

Post by CalallenStang »

I don't think Mizzou should be #5 but there they are. Neither should Tech be #10. Baylor might be #6 but it will be interesting to see them play a real defense at some point...

what has Mizzou done to not deserve being #5? undefeated in the sec east so far is no small feat.

They got there by beating Vandy, a UGA team missing their top 2 RBs and top 3 WRs, and an overrated Florida team.

Really, the entire reason they are ranked as highly as they are isn't that they have done that much, but rather that those undefeated teams below them have done even less.

All I am saying is that at the end of the year, I don't think Mizzou will be top 5.

It would be one good game if Oregon and Baylor got to play one another.

will be interesting to see if Missou can beat South Carolina this week. They look like the surprise team of the year so far. I'm expecting TTech to fall from the unbeaten ranks once they start playing some tougher teams but right now I'm not sure if anyone in the Big XII can stop Baylor

Baylor won't get the chance, nor should they. They're a team with four good players that has played absolutely nobody. The Big 12 is the worst of the P5 this year (by far), so even if Baylor should win the Big 12, that wouldn't mean they played one single difficult game all year.

Hats off to TCU for not being such wimps and actually scheduling someone.

Notice the difference in the 2 for2 trade of Big12 - A&M/Missouri for WVU/TCU...OUCH! SEC made out like bandits.

Not at all. I'm talking about TCU scheduling LSU (this year). Baylor will never schedule big in football.

didn't think you would take that as a serious comment. I give TCU all the credit in the world for scheduling LSU. Baylor has played a weak schedule so far, but they are hanging 70 on almost everybody and doing it with their backups playing a good part of the 2nd half. They are good

I believe they have a good quarterback and a couple of WR's that can get behind mediocre secondary units. Against a team with a good D-line and a decent secondary they would look average (to go with the rest of their team). They just won't play a team that matches that until game 8 or 9 of the season. Man, the Big 12 is really really really bad this year.

I remember all those tea sips - some on here - laughing at the aggs for making the move. Guess A and M and Mizzo are getting the last laugh. At least for now.

They have a good running game too and a huge oline. I wouldn't count their offense out against most teams. Defense is still weak though.
