Gilbert over 2,000 yardsGG crossed a nice milestone in today's game. 2096 yards in 6 games which is a nose-hair shy of 350 yards a game. Kudos to the man.
Mustangs Abu!
Re: Gilbert over 2,000 yardsThat is only his passing yards. He is having a Hades of a season rushing despite so many sacks. By any measure, he is having one of the best QB season for an SMU QB ever.
And he has a will to win that we haven't seen in any SMU player in decades. Gosh I hope it is infectious.
Re: Gilbert over 2,000 yardsTrue. It felt so wrong to praise something on here that I stopped short of doing him justice.

Re: Gilbert over 2,000 yards
Zack Line never gave up.
Re: Gilbert over 2,000 yardsAnd that's also even more impressive when you think about four of the six opponents being very good teams.
Re: Gilbert over 2,000 yardsGilbert ran effectively yesterday. In the 1st several games, he had opportunities to keep drives along but instead of tucking and running, he would force throws into coverage. Much improved yesterday...but this was Memphis
Re: Gilbert over 2,000 yardsHe also is a leader in statistics in SACKS...
He's doing very well for what he's been given.
Re: Gilbert over 2,000 yards
I'm pretty sure all the players play that way... The coaches however do not Played in the June Jones Era
Re: Gilbert over 2,000 yards"...but this was Memphis." Wait a minute, weren't UH and UCF singing Memphis defensive praises for the last two weeks. 15th rated defense in the NCAA or so. Let's give credit when due...GG shredded them until that interception which he himself called a bonehead decision. Keep it up Garrett.
Re: Gilbert over 2,000 yards
The shredding that is. ![]() Go Ponies!!
Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad
Re: Gilbert over 2,000 yardsGilbert seems to be getting better and better, and I agree with the comments here that he looks like he simply doesn't know how to quit on a play or a game. Man, I'd love to have 2 more years with that guy on the team.
