Whoa! SMU playing @ the "BIG HOUSE" in 2018
Shows SMU @ Michigan for 2018. Looks like a $$$$ game for SMU. Also shows two other road games @ UNT, @ Baylor. . . Something on that schedule will have to change. Unless, SMU is just planning on playing all of their OOC games on the road.

We would conceivably play TCU at home that year if the series is extended (it's currently scheduled through 2017).
This game seems far-fetched to me based on Rick's recent comments about OOC scheduling- he had indicated our OOC slate was too tough this year. Going up to Michigan to play UM doesn't seem to gel with that.

Hell yes. I've always wanted to go up there for a game. Enjoyed michigan fans at the rose bowl against Texas. Glad it's not ohio st

Beginning to wonder if the SMU-TCU series takes a short break. . . Especially, with North Texas & Baylor on the scheduleEast Coast Mustang wrote:We would conceivably play TCU at home that year if the series is extended (it's currently scheduled through 2017).

Del Conte's recent statements seemed to indicate they want to keep the series. But that could have just been BS mediaspeak.LHS81 wrote:Beginning to wonder if the SMU-TCU series takes a short break. . . If you looked at Amon G Carter, it was pretty much full during the SMU game (except for when the monsoon hit in the 3rd quarter). Contrast that with the KU game, where the place looked 2/3 empty, and you can see why TCU would want to keep SMU on the OOC slate...it's a game that generates interest in the area among both fan bases.

Game is September 15th 2018. Probably at 11am like every other B1G game....

This was the article where he addressed the SMU series, from back in June: http://www.tcu360.com/football/2013/06/ ... e%E2%80%9D

With a new top level coach we just might be competitive by 2018.
I used to love going to the 'Big House' for the annual Ohio St. v. Mich games. Lots of history and rivalry there.

I was always pretty confident we'd extend the TCU series past 2017 but now I'm not so sure. If we've got Baylor and Michigan on the OOC slate, adding TCU as well for 2018 would be quite a lineup.
I'd hate for the TCU series to go away. Even though we've lost the past two years, it's a great rivalry that attracts a lot of attention in the Metroplex.
On the bright side, nice to see a marquee P5 team willing to schedule us

DALLAS (SMU) - SMU and Michigan will meet on the gridiron on Sept. 15, 2018, in Ann Arbor, the two schools announced today. It will be just the second all-time meeting between the two programs.
"While it's still several years down the road, we're excited about this game," said SMU A.D. Rick Hart. "It will give us a chance to showcase our team and university on a national stage and will allow our student-athletes a chance to compete in one of college football's legendary stadiums."
Even though it was just one game, the 1963 game at Michigan plays a big part in SMU lore. Legend has it that when Ford Motor Company was preparing to introduce the sports car that would gain fame as the Mustang, it was considering other names such as Cougar, Bronco, Cheetah and Colt. But on Sept. 28, 1963, SMU took an undersized but quick team to Ann Arbor to play a massive Michigan Wolverine squad. Michigan gained the early advantage, but had to fight off the feisty Ponies for a 27-16 win.
The story continues that after the game, Ford's Lee Iacocca entered the SMU locker room and addressed the disappointed Mustangs.
"Today," Iacocca said, "After watching the SMU Mustangs play with such flair, we reached a decision. We will call our new car the Mustang. Because it will be light, like your team; It will be quick, like your team; And it will be sporty, like your team."
Ford's new car got its name, and the rest, as they say, is history.
The 2018 meeting will be SMU's first against a Big Ten opponent since playing at Wisconsin in 1995.

Hopefully, wishfully, & prayerfully, we WONT back out. Like one poster said earlier, we've got plenty of time to 'build' a team for this date.
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

Accoridng to the schedule linked above, TCU is a home game in 2018 while Baylor isn't listed.East Coast Mustang wrote:I was always pretty confident we'd extend the TCU series past 2017 but now I'm not so sure.

Actually, the SMU news release states that our non-conference schedule includes UNT, Michigan, and TCU for 2018, so that's good:
2018
9/1 at UNT
9/15 at Michigan
9/29 TCU
