Scots QB Brooks Burgin

Re: Scots QB Brooks Burgin
HP has some underrated and overlooked players. West Mesquite has 5 guys with high D-1 offers and HP whipped em physically all over the field the other night. It wasn't just coaching like some people's perception, HP has about 10 very good athletes/players. Burgin is just a junior, he needs to add some muscle and a little arms strength but he should be a decent prospect for somebody. Far better as a prospect than Bo Levi ever was. Burgin is not below 6'0 either, that's not true. Richards is solid 6'5 to 6'6 kid with good frame, could definitely be a good guy for us to get in the fold somehow, grey shirt etc.

I like Tony Richards and all. But you know two I'd take a look at? Andrew Clyde and Tanner Houghton.

Not enough size on either.
Re: Scots QB Brooks Burgin
Houghton is hoping Ivy and Clyde was at Furman yesterday i think. Besides Burgin, RB Feigl is very good but probably won't get any D-1 looks. 2 juniors on the Oline might. The center Woods is very solid and a coaches son. The right tackle LeMay is a junior and all of 6'5 and improving rapidly. On defense, Clyde's backup is a beast on special teams and is 6'4 and solid, might be very good next year. Then you have juniors playing well at linebacker and both safety spots right now. Finally someone might wanna take a chance on Ceverha. He is the nose in the 3-4 and an absolute warrior. If he could add upper body strength to match his lower body strength, he could help an SMU or similar. He is hungry too, not some spoiled kid.

I don't think there will end up being any D-1 talent on this team, possible exception of woods.
They could become a very good team though....

Re: Scots QB Brooks Burgin
HP looks to be a beast of a team next year with all those juniors getting strong pt.
Re: Scots QB Brooks Burgin
to your point, 5 of the 6 players of the week for the West Mesquite game were juniors: Burgin, Frost and Ken on offense, Kaufman and Bakich on defense. Clyde was the sixth. Random fact, but shows their potential. Definitely a younger team than most HP teams. If they catch fire in the playoffs, and avoid Aledo, could do some damage this year.ponyboy wrote:HP looks to be a beast of a team next year with all those juniors getting strong pt.

Re: Scots QB Brooks Burgin
My son, a wideout, rightly expected strong playing time this year as a senior. Frost certainly put an end to that. Good receiver.
Re: Scots QB Brooks Burgin
Ah man. Frost is very good. They are stacked at receiver in that junior class, i think 2 of them should be moved to defensive backs to balance out the numbers.ponyboy wrote:My son, a wideout, rightly expected strong playing time this year as a senior. Re: Scots QB Brooks Burgin
When you have a kid like Lorenzoni, a near-certain starter coming into this year, a wrestling captain, and a strong 6-3 or 6-4 kid, and he can't break the receiver rotation, well you know you've got depth. I feel very sorry for those kids who worked so hard for so many years under this system only to be passed over, pardon the pun, their senior years. That's competition.

I hope we at least offer.
All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Scots QB Brooks Burgin
I heard we offered Richards and that he accepted. good move for SMU i think, 6'6 Olinemen, with good feet are not a dime a dozen.

Re: Scots QB Brooks Burgin
If we got Richards we will be very glad we did. I could see him becoming a beast of a tight end in the next coaches offense. Or if he packs it on he could go o- line.
And getting passed in senior yr at wideout is a HP tradition.
Clyde likes us a ton, just don't know if that size can work on d-line, and probably not fast enough to go LB.

You, Hoop, and I hang with the same people. One of you weren't wearing the SMU shirt and hanging with Dave Richards at the HP game on Friday were you? We talked about how Newman Smith copied the entire SMU band repertoire and even sang Varsity after the game
