Apparently a lot of people low on the totem pole in the Tennessee athletic department (secretaries, equipment managers, etc) would disagree with you.leopold wrote:I like Dooley. I think he's a decent guy.

Fair enough.
All the more reason not to hire him.

No to Dooley. If he couldn't win with the infrastructure and resources at Tennessee then what makes you think he can win here?
We should go the young and hungry route. Look at what Coach Bro is doing at Tech. He hired a bunch of young and motivated coaches who are bringing innovative concepts and relentless recruiting to the program. They are all over social media and engaging with what the kids of today want to see and hear. They play an exciting brand of football and have already made major inroads with regards to recruiting. I think a program like ours should follow their lead. We need charisma and energy especially after the funeral-like personality of June.

Back off Warchild seriously.

I hear he's a good guy. Good for the Locker Room.leopold wrote:I like Dooley. I think he's a decent guy.
But I still don't know why Tennessee hired him, and I don't see him being a successful HC.
(those who read the Basketball thread will get this one...)

If he could hire a staff that was top notch that would be fine.

Our AD's dad did not hire Dooley. Nor did Kiffin screw Dave Hart.Rebel10 wrote:Chad Morris, Phil Montgomery etc. Not Dooley. Our AD's dad hired him after several coaches turned down Tennessee. Our AD's dad also fire Dooley. I don't think we go that route.
Dave Hart was not at Tennessee at that time.

My Bad. Dooley was indeed hired by Mike Hamilton.
With that said - I wonder what Phillip Fulmer is up to these days...
College Football Hall of Famer
1 National Championship
Rumored for the Louisville job (he was interested) and the UConn job.
From Louisiana
152-52 record
Tons of NFLers from his years at TN.
THAT would be a splash hire similar to LB.
He is three years older than JJ - but then LB is older too...

Maybe FOR SALE signs kept showing up in his yard, and someone made him an offer he couldn't refuseRebel10 wrote:Why do you think he sold his house? Just curios Corso.Roach wrote:I'm not convinced we will have an opening, anyway.

Sounds like a rumor someone started up here last Monday.

Yeah, like former Marshall HS and Texas A&M standout - who also coached in Texas at A&M, TCU and MacArthur High School in Irving --- Phil BennettponyinNC wrote:after the Jones experience, I want Texas ties or at least a staff with deep Texas HS ties.
You can't go wrong with those good ol' Texas ties

I know you mostly act like a smart alec but are you suggesting that we should not get a coach with Texas ties?Bergermeister wrote:Yeah, like former Marshall HS and Texas A&M standout - who also coached in Texas at A&M, TCU and MacArthur High School in Irving --- Phil BennettponyinNC wrote:after the Jones experience, I want Texas ties or at least a staff with deep Texas HS ties.
