This is a discussion to share view points on why recruiting is so abysmal. No one is making this personal nor does this warrant your judgment. Grow up. What many people think is that JJ doesn't care to be here anymore. He doesn't care about SMU or it's traditions, since day one. He doesn't care enough to put the effort required to recruit at this level. If you don't get that, then that is your own problem, but your arguments defending him to stay around as the face of the football program at SMU are weak and baseless. What arguments do you have that we are headed down the right path with him if he stays?? What fundamental argument is there that he actually is making us better moving forward??

No, no, no, I agree with you on every point. I just don't get my kicks repeating it fourteen thousand four hundred and eight times a day. We got it. Got anything original?

Been a Jones critic since 2011 {UCF editorial critical of SMU fan support/ coaching fiasco with Arizona St}. I have to respectfully disagree with you as far as JJ "not being a good college football coach." JJ is a decent football coach when he is so motivated to be. He's just a very poor recruiter of football talent.
qualifying as a 'good football coach' means you have the x's and o's down as well as recruiting. that's why i specified 'college' football coach, and not just a football coach

I agree with your ideas. However, I have been thinking about jj and his situation at SMU. As a result I have read and re-read Dennis Miller's book a number of times. Now, my conspiracy theory. JJ has changed a lot since he came here. Why? Well, my thinking is that he was promised many things. A lot of those things were not delivered. So he had a flirtation with U. of Md. to show the admin. how unhappy he was with those unfilled promises. When the admin. basically paid no attention to him he decided to leave. Hence, the ASU incident and all of its ramifications. He obviously is unhappy here and it is best if he leaves. I like JJ and the way he interfaces with the players. I think his offense is outdated but could continue to succeed if he had the right players. The problem, as has been pointed out many times is his attitude toward recruiting and his lack thereof.
I sincerely hope that he is gone at the end of this season. I have no malice toward him and wish him well. He has done a lot for our school but IMO lost his enthusiasm and desire to succeed at SMU a couple of years ago. He will leave us better off than before and hopefully a new coach can take us to new heights and bring continued success. JMHO

I think at the end of the day, the best place for JJ is at 5a high school. That way he never has to recruit, he can have the fan base he wants. Though he won't be paid a lot it can be his passion and some easy retirement money. I'm 99% sure no university wants him that's worth more than us! and he saw it before his eyes when the ASU thing happened.

Would like to see the staff hit the recruiting trail a few days during the bye week. We should have some momentum coming off of the epic offensive performance. Don't want to post another cricket Friday.

Hopefully recruiting will pick up and maybe we can get some commits with some decent offers as opposed to getting commits with no offers or Sunbelt type offers.

Our strategy is for recruits to come to us (FCS talented) rather than us try to go for them (BCS talented)
