Shead Injury

Post by RyanSMU98 »

Any word on what happened to Shead? That was a pretty high boot he was wearing on the sidelines and the fact that he couldn't put any weight on that leg did not look promising. Assuming he is done for the year?

Not sure what it was. I thought it was a broken ankle from where I sit. Others have said ACL. Pretty sure whatever it is he is done.

Why didn't the cart come out to get him? That was a slow hop to the sideline

How technology hasn't changed. Assuming it was an ACL injury, one similar to Mike Ford's in 1979, then modern technology should allow for a more humane and comfortable process for transportation in the case of an unstable knee like an ACL injury. Instead, Shead got to be hauled off just like for back in '79. And if it was an ankle, the same would apply.

From watching the replay and the Orthopod's on field exam, I would think it was a knee and an ACL injury.

Really hope it's not a torn ACL. That could jeopardize his 2014 season

We were sitting right behind where they put him on the cart. His knee was very swollen. Unfortunately it probably was one of the ligaments.

In, I believe 1971, they changed the rules by charging a time out to a team with an injured player if it held up play. I do not recall what happened when you were out of time outs. But what I know did happen, if the injury to Shead had occurred in that year, the coaches would have sent a couple of players out to drag the kid off the field. I saw it happen more than once. Thankfully they changed that rule the next year.

They should immediately cart those injuries...the slow hobble only encourages swelling...it's not manly, it's just stupid.
