I'm with the next guy when it comes to wanting improvements within our football program. I'd like to see us dominate an entire football game, I'd like to have a coach that recruited hard, and I'd love to see us achieve better than 6-6 and 7-5, but damnit I've never seen someone as negative as you. I'm by no means a sunshiner, but the irrational bs you post sometimes really makes me wonder if you're a troll. You hardly even seem like a fan. This isn't even a thread about attendance and no one even questioned why Ford hasn't been packed. Plenty of us are critics but at least we seem to post it constructively. Unless you have some legitimate ideas or would like to add something we don't know already then otherwise shut up and go watch your SLC dragons.
Lol geez angry much? Irrational? What do I say that's irrational: 1) in year 6, we should be better than 3-4 and compete with our ex-swc mates? 2) in year 6, we should be at least in the top 50 recruiting classes? 3) in year 6, ws should be s contender for moving up to P5?. I could go on and on and hopefully of all people you should feel the same way. I'm sorry I can't be positive or brag to people that we beat am fcs team at home by one point, or get butt pounded by temple for almost 3 quarters at home and blow gigantic leads against Memphis.... And those are just the wins and I'll spare you my great disappointment with the losses. I don't really care of you consider me a fan or not you and the rest of the posters opinions are well opinions. I have high standards for football coming from an actual winning program and also going to a school that I thought would one day have the same mindset but yet it seems people are happy with the wins and understanding of the losses which makes me think the posters on here have NTCC mindset...

However if you need proof that I'm a fan: I travel to every away game that's permissible with my work and family. Outside of work which I usually wear smu dress shirt, I practically wear red and blue each day. I have a peruna hat that I wear to game days and could careless of some judgment looks (but at least enjoy the high fives I get from the others). I root for my team each and every time but sue me if I'm greatly disappointed with how this season turn out. Also I rave online about GG because to me he's the one thing that's actually working.
It's not even that I disagree with what you complain about its the fact that you consistently feel the need to bring it up where it doesn't apply. Its a thread about Rambo motivating players which YOU have complained about yourself for the lack of. My problem is that you feel the need to focus on the negative where it does not relate nor apply to for example this thread. We know attendance sucks and the sky is blue as well. We get it. I in no way have a NTCC mindset and want us to improve ASAP but I also realize [deleted] about attendance on a thread about Rambo isn't going to amount to one Damn thing.

SMUer wrote:I just don't buy the "fans motivate us to play better" argument. I played top level high school and club soccer...I've played for national and state championships...now, granted the number of fans watching high school soccer and SMU football are two orders of magnitude different, but crowds never made me play any better. I may sprint a little harder during warm-ups but during the game it was the same. I always played like scouts were watching and I'd expect all collegeate scholarship athletes to have the same amount of pride.

Now, something that would affect my game was new shoes or new goalkeeper gloves. They made me think I was better or faster, and so I'd play better and faster.

I would've expected new blue uniforms to have a similar affect on our young men...but that experiment failed...we came out flat.
I thought the main point of the Red and Blue Army was to create a more engaged and fired up crowd, make it more fun and get more people to attend to help fire up the team. If you do not believe crowds influence the play on the field then what is the point of red and blue army?

I started red and blue army 1) to make it more exciting to sit in the west side for new alumni, 2) to help create an environment that would impress recruits 3) to show crowd support for June so he wouldn't leave ASU-style and 4) to help create a "home crowd" feel that I didn't think our player had but deserved...we talk about creating an "advantage" but I didn't really think anyone believe this timely chant or that timely yell influences the game...we yell pre-snap and try our best to create crowd noise but other than that...I felt players play the same, crowd or no crowd. I never thought we contributed to more sure tackles or greater catches. I think that's fan-craziness.

You guys act like it's our fault if we lose or that you deserve credit if we win.

Crowds and fans matter. It is not the fans' fault for losing a game, but they can definitely get you to go a little faster, stronger, harder, etc. I know from running on the track team and cross-country team, I always surged a little bit when fans cheered on me.

I love what Red and Blue Army has done. I have a scarf and if it were ever a cold day I'd wear it more often. It's a good scarf just, ya know... Texas.

I love mine too. Looking forward to breaking it out for the cold weather.

Speaking of RBA, am I supposed to have renewed my membership again this year?

If you renew be sure and ask for the 25% discount since they leave after the 3rd quarter.

I do too, I am just surprised to hear that the founder thinks crowd noise does not influence the game. Especially since this is the first ever post on their blog:
