Welcome to SMU, Kyran. Please don't listen to the [deleted] on the board who are hellbent on criticizing anything, everything, anybody, and everybody

FWIW it's nothing against the kid, I'm just annoyed with our lazy staff. Sorry if you're losing your lunch

Fact is he's put in a lot more work to get where's at that you'll ever know, and he now he can receive a free college education because of it. Good for him. Looking forward to seeing him and Anthony Rhone in the middle of our 3-4 defense in a few years.blackoutpony wrote:FWIW it's nothing against the kid, I'm just annoyed with our lazy staff. Seriously just go the [deleted] away if you're going to individually criticize recruits that have committed to us. And don't be a coward and fall back on the "nothing against the kid" schtick. How would you feel if someone started a thread like this about your son?

It really is nothing against the kid. Good for him. This is 100% a jab at the coaching staff.East Coast Mustang wrote:Seriously just go the [deleted] away if you're going to individually criticize recruits that have committed to us. We lose Richards for whatever reason, we have an open scholly, and this is how we immediately fill it. I'm just annoyed and disappointed is all. I mean they didn't even talk to the kid, and then they offer out of the blue. If they had been after him for awhile, that's a completely different story.
And please don't talk about putting in more work than I'll ever know hah. That's a [deleted] crock. I bust my asss at everything I apply myself too.

Re: WE ARE SO AWESOME!!!
I think we all have concerns about the coaching staff their approach to recruiting. As you well know, they've been discussed ad nauseam on this site over the past 18 months or so. starting a thread blasting a guy in the title for being unrated and having no other offers an hour after he commits was low class and in extremely poor taste, in my opinion.blackoutpony wrote:It really is nothing against the kid. I don't know you or anything about you, but I know that Kyran busted his [deleted] to get a full ride to play D1 football and get an excellent education at one of the best colleges in the area.
On another note, I like that we're expanding our pipeline into Lamar HS in Houston.

Fair enough. Maybe I've been grouchy waiting for jury duty all day. I like the Lamar pipeline as well.East Coast Mustang wrote:I think we all have concerns about the coaching staff their approach to recruiting. Re: I just don't like our coaches very much.....
I don't have an issue with the thread. It may be too soon, but regardless I think it's a valid point. Why do the coaches keep giving offers to kids with no other BCS offers? It's a legitimate question. It's great that he works his butt off, but don't you think that the fact he doesn't have any other offer means that he may not be considered D1 material? I don't mind having some of these players on, but why has it almost become the norm. You know the answer to that, and it's because the coaches are lazy at recruiting. They don't do the work.
Also, the scholarships are not free (this is not charity), and I would personally prefer to have the scholarships go to kids that are rated, and have the coaches put in the work to come to SMU. Every other school gets this except our lazy coaching staff. It's no different then when academic scholarships are given. It's based on merit, and someone with high GPA and high SAT is more than likely to get one than one who has low scores. It's the way it is.

This really isn't that big of a deal. If we're bringing in a new HC as has been speculated then this recent commit along with several others won't be signing LOIs with us.
