Wow do some of these posters get off subject in a hurry. I would love to have Rambo as a graduate assistant next year-what a great guy.

Next year? At least hope he makes an NFL roster. My goodness, I would think he would at least get some looks before calling his football playing days over. Give him some credit at possibly making at NFL roster first.

I like Joyner. Good kid, plays with a ton of heart and effort, and a solid player. I played with a couple of guys like him … good guys. However, at times they and Joyner can get a little too preachy and self absorbed for me, and in meetings too. I think if you could get a straight answer and not a PC from the team, you would find that to be a common thought at times, especially the older guys. But, you cannot have enough Joyner’s.

As far as the NFL, I wish that opportunity for all of them. I think Joyner will have his obstacles, starting with the prejudice against his size. He has never been a speedster, but he was quicker last year, and that’s because IMO, he put on the extra pounds (about 15) to play the run better. How do I say this w/o sounding like I’m not a fan (I am) … but I don’t think he is strong enough, or physical enough against the run. I don't mean he runs from contact, or does not play with intensity. So many times in years past I would see Joyner get literally tossed on his back side … man-handled. Now every LB gets washed out, blocked .. locked up and can’t get lose. I’m talking tossed to the side easily. It still happens, but not as much this year for two reasons IMO … 1) the extra weight helps … 2) he has gotten good at dipping, ducking, sliding and then diving back at the ball carrier. In doing so, that at times exposes the "D", because the Buck is suppose to stuff the hole, stand his ground and stuff the lineman then shed the block most often, and create opportunities for the Mike backer. The Buck is the "D" version of a lead blocker. The Mike backer is the centerpiece in the 3-4, and all things should flow to him. When you do the other stuff, it can create gaps that get exposed in the run game. I hope he gets his shot and makes it … I just think this will get opposed and squashed at the next level, if he gets the chance. Even in a traditional 4-3, this is a problem. The other question will be his pro-day measurables, I have no idea what they will be. But at his height, the others better be really good. I have never heard Joyner’s name mentioned as a top guy in these measured skills when the team test.

Wow, don’t I sound like Debbie downer … sorry.

He is smart, works his butt off, competitive as he--, very good in pass coverage and plays with a chip on his shoulder … and you need that, and love that. I've stated before, I'm close to Case K and his family, and all he has ever heard from the experts is "You Can’t", now look at him. So, it’s possible … go get’em Joyner. He would be a great GA and coach and I'm glad he is a Mustang. More important, he is a good guy.

Sometimes you are just not right for the NFL. That is what makes it hard to get into. I for one still say that Banjo is too small and he is proving me wrong everyday so I can certainly not judge.
