Officials gave them a win over one of the worst teams in the nation. That was a truly AWFUL call that was compounded by picking up the flag on the UH receiver that did the exact same thing on the next possession. Awful call in that situation. With the game on the line it had better be an obvious PI to draw the flag. USF got hosed.

I liked when the UH player chucked the ball at the D Lineman who pushed [him] out of bounds.

I am not taking shots at UTEP or SMU. What my previous post is about is that if you are not recruiting hard every year and working hard it doesn't take but a year or two before you are at the bottom. Football is that good in Texas. Programs have figured out that Texas is a growing state but the number of scholarships have stayed the same. If SMU could get 20 recruits a year just from the top 200-300 in Texas along with good coaching they would be perennial contenders.Look no further than what has happened at Tulsa and Southern Miss. Newcomers Texas State and UtSAN have put whuppins on both USM and Tulsa, Last years CUSA champs! And watch out for NT with a new stadium.

Rice lost to NTSU. Only beat UTSA by 6 points, and the UTSA kicker missed couple of field goals and UTSA muffed punt that gave Rice a TD or would have lost to UTSA. UTSA moved ball on them just like they did Houston. Rice is not necessarily powerhouse. Played Rutgers after Rutgers kids stop playing once learned out of the conference race. BYU game they should get all the credit for.

Agreed Houston's recruiting better, but Houston's admissions standards and ability to keep kids in school with general majors and easier academics makes their recruiting bit different than SMU. I mentioned before my family member who used to work in Houston's admissions and knew first hand. Not excuse and don't fault Houston for using that advantage, but reality is they can get kids in and keep some kids in school that SMU can not. It is not apples to apples comparison.

I don't post things just to post every hour like some, but reality is it is different situation. And like I posted long time ago, I fully expect Houston to do very well again SMU this year so that really will be no surprise to many.
