Like people said, there's bars across the highway... Our biggest problem is our perception of quality to dallas. We are essentially the "my little pony," as people at my work call it, of college football. Nobody wants to watch poor quality football especially when they against similar looking teams. You can put beer in the stadium, you can get c-cup + cheerleaders, and better videos on the scoreboard but that's not going to do anything other than make the current fan base happy.

The real only way to gets fans in there is to have an exciting product. You need a solid 10-2+ team that can compete and win against the big time teams. You need a coach like Larry brown to bring local excitement.

All these changing gameday presentations are decorations... If you are a turd with pretty decorations on it, at the end of the day, you are still a turd. I know there are people on here that think we are better than turd status but sadly they are ultimately the minority. Dallas will see us as "My little Pony" of college football until things change.

We are currently on a 2 game winning streak, and I think we will come out on top in Cincy after this bye. If we demonstrate we can turn our season around and have a 10-2 season next year...it could be the beginning of that rise to the top we have always wanted.

That's all. Just rip off 10-2. Who knew it was that easy?

Yeah no offense but dallas people considered our season ended after the butt pounding we got from bottom rank tcu in the big 12...

We aren't going to be 10-2 based on the talent gap unless our OCC was completely dropped for 1FCS and 3 low rank CUSA teams and our conference schedule excluded UCF.

SMU_Alumni11 - I hope you are wrong. I am hoping that our offense has found their way out of the dark ages and both our offense and defense cuts down on mistakes. I hope by the end of the season SMU can hold their own with anybody. I believe most of our problems result more from mistakes than physical ability.

SMU's offense just gets better and better. Defense must be making mistakes in coverage and responsibilities because too many receivers are wide open, etc. I believe our offense should now put up big numbers every week; maybe not as big as against Temple but big nonetheless). Our defense should be able to defend and cut down the opponents abilities to move the ball.

I hope I'm right and you are wrong. It may be wishful thinking but I believe GG has grasped the offensive scheme as has the receivers. And, I believe GG is as good as there is when he believes in himself. The defense can only get better. I hope they will step up and take charge.

I agree with you completely. There is no reason to fear UCF or any other program out there. Our boys have to believe in winning and trust their abilities to the max...then we will win!

Just provide a venue that in no way resembles an SMU football game. Don't have to watch the game; don't have to cheer or participate in any way. Perfect. Oh, wait... there are some bars across Central.

Do you know how many bars are in Cowboys Stadium? I don't hear Jerry Jones complaining how the atmosphere in there is bad. He just keeps counting his money made off $15 margaritas.

Our offense looks better because we are playing poor teams. Its that simple.

Nobody disagrees that it would be great to play great competition and eventually compete. We disagree on the steps needed to get there. Schedule easier teams so we have a (fake) better record - which attracts better talent. Then step up competition as you increase your teams quality through better recruiting. Getting pounded by 4 teams early sucks the interest out of any potential non SMU fans - which leads to perpetual 15k turnouts of only SMU people.

What i am suggesting is exactly how the froggies did it.

That is a fact. Ray Charles can see that. Well, maybe not Ray Charles (RIP) but Stevie Wonder can.

FTHP is going over the deep end again... Are you just another account for Jason B?

The CFB climate is much different than it was when TCU implemented their plan. Unfortunately we don't have a 10+ years to blow on some "slow and steady" plan. We need to turn this thing around like SMU basketball, focus on putting together a staff that can bring in real talent so we can beat the teams that people in this town want to see.
