They can only sell the number of tickets for the Tip Off Showcase that they are allowed to sell you jerk.
Simmer down, Princess. I wasn't hating on the student turnout for the TCU game, and I think it's great what LB has done in reaching out to the student body. My point is that it's a lot easier to build a basketball program and generate excitement because you only have to sell a couple thousand tickets to sell the place out. Replicating that for football in a 32,000 seat stadium is a much harder task

well if SMU has sold 4,500 season tickets as rumored-selling 1/2 of the football season tickets would be a pretty high percentage for most any school. We'll see in January

How many football season tickets did we sell at the height of the June Jones era- either when he first signed here in '08 or after the Hawaii Bowl?

You have to at least reach out to the student body and recruit well enough to give you hope. What has JJ done to reach out to the student body? Did he go to the frat houses like LB?

I believe 12,000.

I don't disagree, and we all know JJ's outreach in the community has been lackluster at best. But you can't just say that a coach can do what LB did for basketball and fix the attendance problem for football. If the same amount of students at the TCU game tomorrow night showed up for the Tech football game to open the season, everyone would be on here [deleted] about student attendance.

We haven't been over 10,000 since Ford was built-fair point though that this is influenced by renovated Moody. But really the excitement seems to be from the caliber of our players even more than the excitement over a renovated Moody. Renovation is a major factor-but Basketball season tickets at a renovated Moody could still hit 50% of season tickets at a new Ford which is promising and rather unusual in Texas. If those numbers are accurate-I really don't know

So how many students show up to the football game anyway? Also let's look at percentages.

If our basketball team was looking crappy and was poised to be irrelevant, you can be sure that no amount of LB going around to the houses would help attendance. It's a two part equation
