M-Soccer: SMU vs. UConn (American Tournament)

The Mustangs are in Storrs, Connecticut to face the UConn Huskies in an American quarterfinal match. Game time is 4pm Dallas time Saturday.

The winners of the quarterfinals will be in town next weekend with the semifinals and finals at the FC Dallas stadium in Frisco next Friday and Sunday.

Rutgers defeated Cincinnati 5-1 in the first round match yesterday so the quarterfinals are set:

USF at Temple
Memphis at UCF
SMU at UConn
Rutgers at Louisville

All quarterfinals are being played today.

USF upset Temple 1-0 in Philadelphia today in the first quarterfinal.

UCF defeated Memphis 2-1 in OT in the second quarterfinal match today.

SMU and UConn are still 0-0 30 minutes in.

UConn has had a couple of really nice chances - one saved by Ibarra and one saved off the line by Speed.

SMU has had a ton of pressure so far. Corners are already 6-1 to SMU.

UConn takes the lead 1-0 in the 42nd minute as a ball ends up trickling over the line after a bunch of chaos in the box.

Ibarra picks up a yellow after vehemently complaining of interference.

The first half was very even. Shots are 7-5 to UConn. Shots on goal are 5-5. SMU has a big edge 7-1 in corners.
