At a recent family reunion I was chided by a family member that is a coach on the Nevada staff. His question is how we can't bring in 20 kids every year just from the DFW area alone with the "amazing" facilities we have. He was telling me that after the game all the coaches at Nevada were talking about what a dream it would be to work at SMU with the resources and tools we must have to work with.
---

Hmmm... Nevada coaches bad-mouthing SMU coaches & their recruiting?

I thought the score was SMU 38, Nev. 20, not the other way around!?!

Sobering Update: 49 Texas High School seniors have already committed to out of state schools. In addition 60 Texans have committed to Texas schools for a total of 109 commitments on August 5. BTW UT just got their 23rd commitment from WR Josh Marshall who was offered by everyone in this part of the country. Guess they can just about go fishin' for the remainder of the recruiting season.

Well Stallion I was actually going to post another ‘Stallion Recruiting Question’ today.

How concerned should we be at this point, it has now been 2 weeks since our camp.

well I don't think it can be construed as good news. 65% of the Texas Top 100-an unprecedented number this early-have committed. Those that say its still early are completely out of touch with what is going on in recruiting these days.

Hopefully some schools are getting close to being oversubscribed and will wait and pull some offers at the last minute leaving a few crumbs for us.

the real question is how may guys has Bennett offered who have committed elsewhere? That's probably the best indication of how recruiting is going. Of course, the rest of that equation is what other offers/how many offers SMU's "hopefuls" might be considering right now.

It's critical to Bennett's tenure here at SMU for this year's team to find a way to improve on last year and that means at least 4 wins. Gotta keep forward momentum to convince more kids that they really could be part of a championship team at SMU.

Damn right, and with little reason to commit during August, the game with BU is pivotal for the recruiting process.

TRIVIA QUESTION:

From last recruiting class... Who committed 1st and when???

So Stallion, is Ponymon smoking weed when he says we only have 13-15 scholarships available???

he might be right if the deadline was today-but it ain't -its 11 months from today. As always there will be plenty more scholarships open up.
