It'll be official after the UCF game. Can't wait forever to make a decision (especially one this obvious) or it'll hinder the search for a replacement.

I voted he would be here next year. . . The CoC won't pay JJ $2 million not to coach SMU. Unless, JJ pulls a rabbit out of his @$$ (decides to retire/take another job). He will be here next year to collect his $2 million. . . Do I want him coaching SMU next year? "HELL, EFFIN NO!"

This season is a microcosm of JJ's 6 years here.

Lose to teams with winning records - CHECK
Defeat D2a team - CHECK
Lose to non-stinko teams on the road - CHECK
Defeat stinko teams on the road - CHECK
Play well at home vs conference opponents - CHECK

All JJ has to do to continue above strategy with 1 small exception; defeat either Coog High or UCF, and we're GOLDEN baby!!! And for some odd reason, I place our chances of bowling this year at 'almost' 50/50. It's simply the way JJ rolls.

Oh, and one other interesting JJ fun fact. He is now in year 6 on the Hilltop. He almost has as many victories against D2a teams (5) as he does against teams with winning records (6).

Where does the $ come from to buy his season out and pay entire new staff?? Unfortunately I think Jones will be back in 2014.

That'll tell us everything we need to know about this university's desire (or lack thereof) to have a relevant football program. Embrace mediocrity :!:
