Running game in the Red Zone
Can we ever punch in the damn ball in the red zone?? it's becoming so frustrating watching our offense falter in the red zone. I got so damn sick of watching P Line and Nlemchi constantly get immediately stuffed at the line of scrimmage. What the hell is the problem? Do we really miss Zach that much or is our O-line just that inept? i understand that the RnS isnt great in the RZ so we need a running game. GG is amazing with the QB keeper but we need to expand on our running plays in the red zone.

Funny that JJ really didn't use Z line as much in the red zone and short yardage when the guy was money, and this year he does try to run in short yardage when we don't have the line or running backs to do it. Also, he has completely abandoned the designed QB runs that we so effective with GG last year.Lebanese4Life wrote:Can we ever punch in the damn ball in the red zone?? it's becoming so frustrating watching our offense falter in the red zone. Just my perception.

You cannot run straight up the middle without a lead back on the goal line. Apparently they are doing it to try and catch the defense off guard thinking that no one would do it. But it does not work. They need a goal line backfield package or just throw the ball.

Our offensive line can't best their defensive line. Our defensive line can't best their offensive line. That's what in my opinion killed us.

You need big O Lines and Strong Running Backs to be effective in the red zone. Auburn and Bama proved how lethal running game can be. Auburn steamrolled 444 yards on the ground vs Tennessee

It's the lack of a power set. I've said it since JJ got here. He is stubborn and wrong about this, it has cost us many wins and will cost him his job. The unchanging eventually die off.

"The thing I’m struggling with is we’re not running the ball very well," Jones said. "Garrett was hitting every pass, but at some point we’re going to have to run the ball to win a game. That was frustrating." - June Jones

Re: Running game in the Red Zone
I like that we focus on having a great passing attack...but we cannot keep trying to use that to cover our deficiencies on the ground. We saw a glimpse of what having a potent rushing attack will do with Zach Line. We need a balanced offense with both a strong power set, 3-4 strong Running backs along with great receivers and QB. Also another thing is we have to recruit strong on defense. Acker and Pope can't run this D by themselves, we need a strong defense that can stop the run. Build depth on that.gostangs wrote:It's the lack of a power set. I've said it since JJ got here. He is stubborn and wrong about this, it has cost us many wins and will cost him his job.
