Maybe we don't know the full story. Remember LB is chasing William Lee and still going after Myles with only one scholarship available. Not saying I know anything, but right now everything we've heard has been one-sided.
Either way, Jalen was probably my favorite player the past couple of years. I loved the fire he played with, and he was a lot of fun to watch. I will definitely root for him no matter where he ends up.

Right. I don't know that this was Jalen's choice.

LB shouldn't have any trouble finding good use for the scholarship.

Good luck to him. We are better with him, but ultimately he is losing more opportunity than we are bring hurt by his loss.
Thanks though for all his hard work here at SMU.
Agree, especially when you consider what this team can accomplish this year. But, in defense of Jalen, maybe he feels he is more marketable if he can contribute to another program for 2 years instead of 1. Hate to see him go, he was also a favorite of mine.

In guessing that it came to a head because if he played in a game this year he would have to sit out next year as a transfer and would lose a year of eligibility. Is that right?

Hasn't the dude practiced with the team for months, and then he just quits after the first game? Weak sauce bro. Didn't he know where he stood within the program? It hurts our depth this year, so I agree with the posters above that say eff him. Sounds like a me me me me me kid.
Bottom line is he'd rather play more minutes on a LOSING team than be a contributor on a WINNING team. That is what I see here, and that's why I say don't let the door hit your @ss in the way out.

I stand by my comment. I have no respect for the manner in which he's leaving. You practice with the team for months and then quit right before it starts? I understand transferring in general, but in this regard, yup, what a fuxking [deleted]

Jalen looks bad here, no other way of putting it. But if he was going to be surly and whining in the locker room all year over playing time, then it's best he's removed himself. Don't need that around a developing team.

I will miss seeing his dunks and hard play. He definitely my favorite player. But I think this is a good analysis of the situation. If he has a change of heart, I would be fine with him coming back.

meanwhile, you really have to respect Cunningham for hanging in there. He knows he's being recruited over and will see fewer minutes this year and next, but appears he's going to work hard and make his minutes count as he showed Friday night. In 12 minutes, he scores 6 pts and pulls down 5 boards. His senior night next year should be pretty special
