I CAN'T BELIEVE WE LOST!

Postby SMU2007 » Sat Nov 09, 2013 6:14 pm

We barely scraped by Montana State and tried to lose to two of the worst teams in D1 football. Also we haven't recruited worth a sh*t in a couple years.

But I can't believe we actually lost! Didn't cincy hear that we've been to FOUR bowl games in a row???? Or that we used to be one of the worst teams in college football, but since June Jones came we are now a mediocre team in C-USA/AAC?? I can't believe this!!

This year has been sobering...recruiting has stunk for several seasons now. On recruitment night they show highlights and I always think "huh, could be good but very raw, guess they see something I don't"...nope, we get "potential" guys but don't develop their potential. No wonder Dieter left, how was he not starting over Thompson or most of our receiving core? Pathetic.

This year is probably the best thing that has happened to us...it will help us uncover our deficiencies in coaching, recruiting, depth etc. as well as understand why is it we lose to P5 programs. Hopefully it will help us start fresh with a clean slate next year and gather top coaching, improve our recruiting and start building depth on Defense, Running Game and of course QB/Receivers.

If we don't change anything for next year, WE WILL BE LEFT BEHIND. North Texas is starting to become a serious competitive program and they will beat us next year in both our game and recruiting if we don't do anything. Our chance is now, before we get left behind not only in the big conference talk but vs. our Metroplex rival programs. (TCU already left us behind, UNT might be next)

Let's make changes and catch up to TCU.

It was a Brett Favre kind of retirement.

come on, man. We cant believe we lost because it means we aren't going to go to that BCS game after all. That was the plan all along, right?

I'm assuming that wasn't meant to be an answer to my question. :)

I'm just sick of triumphalism when we lose. this season so far has shown me one thing. We compete in the AAC just fine. Not ready to play the big boys. But I'm gutted for the team yesterday.

SMU increased ticket sales and interest in the program with losing records in both the Mustang Mania era in both FB and BB and today with the Basketball team. Strong uptick in recruiting spurs interest earlier and better than just winning. Winning is what happens after an uptick in recruiting. Same thing happened at TCU. Fans will support a losing or mediocre program if they see a program is moving in the right direction fueled by recruiting success

Those teams probably also benefitted greatly from the swc schedule which inherently creates more interest from the Dallas community
