for those not following SMU Basketball at the time, Dave Bliss signed one of the highest rated recruits in Texas in Larry Davis and highly regarded Jon Koncak and Butch Moore among others-They were awful the first year but the momentum and direction of the program from an uptick in recruiting created better attendance before the winning

Ira Terrell and Sammy Hervey who were national high school and national JUCO recruits created substantial increase in interest in the program in the 1970s too before they ever played

People do recognize we are moving in the right direction, and I am pretty sure we sold more season tickets in FB this year. We need a new face for HC and new recruiting staff. Once people start seeing we are snagging recruits from good programs as well as getting some good quality recruiting classes, you will see our stadium filling up more and more each season. When we start packing 30k regularly in the Ford as well as winning the recruiting battle, our 10+ win seasons will start to come back. Then we start playing teams from P5 conferences other than the big 12, and we start adding that to our wins resume. Then the invite to a P5 will come, once they see we are consistent winners, and we can pack the house.

Then once in a P5, the good times will roll....we will get a new house to pack our increasing fan base, we will create new traditions, and we will be in the same table as the haves (P5)
