HART/TURNER: PLEASE FIX OUR LISCENSING ISSUESAs documented on this site many times before, one's ability to purschase SMU gear outside a 500 yard radius surrounding Ford Stadium is just about non-existant.
CASE IN POINT --- This afternoon I went into the RALLY HOUSE on Tollway to buy pops an SMU birtday gift. Rally House is known for catering to college gear of many schools and all varieties, I was once again disgusted to see only a tiny section of a few shirts and some miscellaneous trinkets. So I asked the two college aged employees about the demand for SMU gear --- Out of the blue she says "SMU demand has always been strong at our store, but we rarely have enough for people to find what they are looking for", she went on to say that "SMU has always been very tough on LICENSING, therefore we are unable to meet that demand for SMU products". HART/TURNER: PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE. Compared to the other issues you guys must be working, this one should be a no brainer to address and fix forever! Re: HART/TURNER: PLEASE FIX OUR LISCENSING ISSUES NOW!I second this. Based on stores from McKinney to northpark to freaking granbury, the same statement is consistent. They could all easily say demand is low and say sorry but they all say it has to do with licensing. I know the SMU people that deals with this will say they will talk to them and get it sorted, however not one place has been fixed. Heck some of them said they talk to the SMU people and still can't get better terms. I also think its interesting in all the NCAA football games I have played, most schools mascots are on there including freaking NTCC yet peruna isn't on there... I wonder why. Sorry about the rant but something needs to change.
Re: HART/TURNER: PLEASE FIX OUR LISCENSING ISSUES NOW!These guys have to start seeing this as a loss leader. You get your brand out there, even if it's not always profitable or 100% controlled. It's about impressions, not quality. These guys have to start acting like this is what it is: a business! Sure, some education goes on, but the institution that is known as SMU (like ALL institutions of higher learning) is a BUSINESS. Act like it!
Re: HART/TURNER: PLEASE FIX OUR LISCENSING ISSUES NOW!That is what I have always been saying. [deleted]'s sporting goods all around the metro carry all Texas schools like A&M, Tech, UT and even TCU but when I asked about SMU in a Fort Worth Dicks, they said that a lot of people ask for SMU merchandise but the school doesn't send any...and TCU and the others flood the store with merchandise to sell. We can't even buy those cool tailgate long flags or tents or coolers or anything! PLEASE PUT OUR MERCHANDISE OUT THERE! TWEET HART to do SOMETHING!
Re: HART/TURNER: PLEASE FIX OUR LISCENSING ISSUES NOW!In all honesty, I believe RGT to be absolutely clueless in this regard, however I don't think the SMU demand I anywhere near what you claim it to be.
One of my old fraternity bros (3 years younger than me) used to work at the dicks across the street from north park (he started in high school for a total of about 3 years). I've asked him about this and he claims SMU licensing is no worse than UT's and that it's just an excuse they give out to appease to local the university right next door and not get backlash. The demand for SMU gear is better than it used to be, but still pales in comparison to sales of UT and cowboy gear. according to him, there Is absolutely zero reason to waste space and money on SMU gear when they'll make more selling UT and (right now) aggie gear. This is our sad reality and until we start winning more games, there is zero reason to expect it to change. BOP - Providing insensitivity training for a politically correct world since 1989.
Re: HART/TURNER: PLEASE FIX OUR LISCENSING ISSUES NOW!Send that info to the SID. He usually responds pretty quickly on those issues.

Re: HART/TURNER: PLEASE FIX OUR LISCENSING ISSUESAlso, see the other 10 threads specific to Rally House and the 500 others regarding this topic. You're being fed an excuse by the mgr.
Re: HART/TURNER: PLEASE FIX OUR LISCENSING ISSUES
Exactly right. The stores don't want to carry it, but they don't want to say that to your face. The SID has addressed it repeatedly.
Re: HART/TURNER: PLEASE FIX OUR LISCENSING ISSUESThis ->
There are no hurdles here. We have set records for seven straight years in royaties. We approve 99.9% of license requests and 99.9% of all submitted items. Anything you hear otherwise is simply not true. That said, we have previously asked the Licensing Resource Group (LRG) to reach out to Rally House specifically to address their lack of SMU stock. With LRG, SMU makes our licensing process obtainable and user-friendly, while maintaining the highest brand standards possible. Our goal is to increase the availability of SMU-branded merchandise in the DFW marketplace and the region. Quick Facts 1) SMU’s royalty rate is 10% and is on par with every other FBS schools in the state of Texas except the University of Texas, whose royalty rate is 12%. 2) Every school in the American Athletic Conference also has a royalty rate of 10%. 3) SMU requires licensees pay advanced royalties of $250 for apparel and $100 for non-apparel at the beginning of each year. This is on par or less than other FBS institutions. 4) SMU offers a license type specifically designed for local businesses to produce SMU licensed products for reduced start up fees. 5) Last year SMU’s royalty generation was the highest in school history and the program is continuing to grow. The success of SMU’s licensing program depends on the thousands of Mustang fans that buy SMU branded merchandise daily. The demand SMU fans generate with retailers is what allows our licensing program to grow. We would encourage SMU fans to ask store management for SMU product while they are in the marketplace to continue to build demand. As posted previously, you can report and stores that give you this "we can't get an SMU license" nonsense here - http://www.smumustangs.com/ot/smu-licensing.html - and we will follow up with them.
Re: HART/TURNER: PLEASE FIX OUR LISCENSING ISSUESSay, does anyone know what the medical redshirt rules are? Or maybe whether we can get new uniforms?
Re: HART/TURNER: PLEASE FIX OUR LISCENSING ISSUES
We should publish a list of stores that carry our merchandise. Hopefully we can build from there. But I will start asking about our merchandise everywhere there are other schools. Do you know if we have tailgate Red, white or blue SMU tailgate tents?
Re: HART/TURNER: PLEASE FIX OUR LISCENSING ISSUESHave you never been to the Blvd?

Re: HART/TURNER: PLEASE FIX OUR LISCENSING ISSUES
Instead of being sarcastic, you could have said "Yes we do" and tell me where to buy one! WHY DO YOU THINK I WOULD ASK?!?!?!?!?
Re: HART/TURNER: PLEASE FIX OUR LISCENSING ISSUESThis is the first year that the SMU Bookstore has been open after games (I think they stay open 5 hours after kickoff or something like that). If SMU wants to restrict its licensing, maybe it should keep its hub open past 5:00 pm every night. My wife and I have both stopped by after work on a Friday to buy a shirt for the next day's game only to see a closed sign. It's ridiculous.

Re: HART/TURNER: PLEASE FIX OUR LISCENSING ISSUES
That is not sarcasm. If you had ever been to the blvd. you would have seen it covered with SMU tents of all colors. Why would you ask the question if you had ever been there? And by the way, you did not answer my question. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
