Re: SMU 119th out of 123 Teams in Penalties Per GameHaven't JJ coached teams always had a lot of penalties.....even back on the island?
Peruna is my mascot!
Re: SMU 119th out of 123 Teams in Penalties Per Game
Yes.
SMU 119th out of 123 Teams in Penalties Per GameClearly undisciplined. Coaches do your job, it's why you're paid.
Re: SMU 119th out of 123 Teams in Penalties Per Game
Completely agree - direct reflection of the coaching staff. "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."
Re: SMU 119th out of 123 Teams in Penalties Per Game
who needs discipline or recruiting when you can throw the ball a bunch of times.
Re: SMU 119th out of 123 Teams in Penalties Per GameJJ - what do you have to say about this?
"Top 120 in everything we do."
Re: SMU 119th out of 123 Teams in Penalties Per GameActually we're in the Top 10 when you flip the rankings. So we are right on track.
Re: SMU 119th out of 123 Teams in Penalties Per GameThe point of the article for those who look for any opportunity to pile on JJ and staff is that we're getting an unusual number of bad calls. And the article doesn't mention the totally bogus targeting penalty in the fourth quarter against Cincinatti. That was outrageous.
Re: SMU 119th out of 123 Teams in Penalties Per GameI agree we do get an unusual amount of "unfair" calls, but that doesn't excuse all the bad penalties we get regardless. This is an undisciplined team, and it starts with the HC.
As for the bad calls, I do believe that we get more than maybe other teams because referees feel they can somehow get away with it with us. Our coach barely complains, occasionally raises his arms, but he never gives them an earful. If you don't like the calls, get in their face and let them know about it. I don't care if it's not his demeanor. Do something about it. Get in their heads and make them think twice next time. We always get bad calls against the toads, and Fatterson makes sure they know he's there.
Re: SMU 119th out of 123 Teams in Penalties Per Game
That targeting call was atrocious. Didn't Cincy on the very next play get a holding call? Maybe a "make up" call to limit the effect of the totally inappropriate targeting penalty to +5 yards.
Re: SMU 119th out of 123 Teams in Penalties Per GameThe announcer suggested at first it might be a makeup call, but then said never mind, that it really *was* a hold on the Bearcats.
Re: SMU 119th out of 123 Teams in Penalties Per GameImagine how much worse we could be except for the Memphis game. Only 3 penalties in that game are less than single quarters of other games.
Re: SMU 119th out of 123 Teams in Penalties Per Gamewe got some real good calls in the Memphis game. I'm sure Tigerboy is still bitchin' on Tigerfans about a game which they didn't deserve to win
