Do you not think the kids will play better when they get excited about new uniforms? That is a known fact, in high school and college we always went crazy when we got an alternate uniform. So why not let them influence what will make them excited?

Seriously. Do it right or don't do it at all... If I have to watch the Sportscenter or College Gameday guys making fun of us for our helmets peeling off during the Uconn game, I will officially renounce my SMU fandom because we have idiots in charge.

This brings back memories of the Armed Forces Bowl & black jerseys. It sounds like something they came up with last week.

The athletic department is blowing all the goodwill they earned from the 2983 throwbacks. Make a decision, plan the rollout, execute. You don't say we don't know what jerseys we are going to wear. Bush league.

You all may be correct but would it not be best to actually see what they come up with before all the negative comments. I realize we have wandered to desert for many years but the total defeatist attitude is depressing. One person said he has seen a picture and did not like it. I want a little more evidence before I crawl into my hiddy hole.

that is fair. it just seems par for the course that we would screw this up - but you are correct - I should wait until I actually see what we've done before I make assumptions and spew venom.

but all bets are off if I see plastic red saran wrap on our players helmets!

My problem is with the process. It is like a second thought the way it was presented in the press. If you want to make a splash and I contend that is why we need to be doing this, then have a plan and make a big deal of it.

Plus the waffling by putting jersey color up to players make it seem an afterthought. Why do it if you can't get done positive publicity out of it. Compare this rollout to other team using alternative uniforms - heck compare it to our own throwback rollout. Just makes is look bad.

I agree there is no coordinated effort to promote, but when whatever it is is unveiled, I imagine half will like it and half will not. Maybe everyone will hate it. I know not everyone will like it. But it is already being panned and no one has seen it. Personally, these are my helmets from when I played and I like the throw back look. As I said earlier I do prefer the white as the normal style.

But we really do not know yet what is going to happen other than June has let the team know he prefers the red jersey. We will survive this I am certain.
