Unlike most Dl schools SMU has only one game helmet. Yes, one compared to even schools in our own conference that have 2-3 helmets!
Well, how can we change colors? A new technique that Hal Mumme came up with when coaching another small school (Abilene) also without an adequate football budget. These are helmet "wraps" that he helped develop. Pretty innovative for a school like SMU that cut back on the football budget this year! Oh sorry, the budget was supposed to be a secret within the Athletic Department!
That might be the spin that was put on it but it seemed like in his interview a few days ago that June was saying red even before the vote.
"We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown
How about telling the players what to wear. I played for shellas; he told us what color we to,wear and we wore it. He didn't give us a vote on anything.
And if you don't have the money to do it right don't do it. Just like wearing the black with our regular uniform in the armed forces. It comes off looking pathetic cause you dint have the guts to do it all the way. I was not in favor of wearing black, but I would rather of done that than wear a black jersey and then say it is to honor Army. It becomes a joke rather than going bold. Same thing today. It wasn't worth doing if all you domes change the helmet. Big deal.
An atheist is a guy who watches a Notre Dame-SMU football game and doesn't care who wins. -- Dwight D. Eisenhower

And yet Hawaii can afford alternate uniforms and helmets........
So you are telling me we wrapped red sticky stuff on top of our classic white helmets? That explains the red face masks...
I am sick and tired of hearing how we don't have money... Bull [deleted], SMU is an expensive private school that recently just raised over $750 million in the last 3 years...
Do it right or don't do it at all. It is not that expensive to have good looking uniforms. It Is the product of poor design work and bad decision making. Out uniforms would look great if we just went back to the classic pony express days look. You can't tell me that we could afford that look back then, but not know. I can't wait to read uni watch and see how bad they rip our look today.
