It's an issue of a small private school in a major city. Miami during the days if the U had the same issue. You couple that with 25 years of being pathetic and playing in a second tier conference, you get what we have now. It's not something to blame June jones for. Basketball will be interesting
June does not help the situation when he does subtle things to tick off the fans and stays somewhat aloof.

So who is our Schellenberger, and does the administration want him? I hate being all doom and gloom but I just don't see it happening here.

I think the administration would love a dynamic coach who's involved in the community and gets the fan base energized. What we're NOT going to get is Petrino or someone of that ilk with a questionable moral compass. I personally would love Petrino but I understand the reasons he would never be considered here.

I have had season tickets since 2000 and I'm done with football. Giving up a great tailgating spot, sold my trailer earlier in the week.
I'm turning 100% of my focus to basketball.
Larry Brown and his staff can coach can coach, recruit, he actually likes our fans, they play hard and don't give up.
I'm finally to the point that we should just give up on football. No one cares and I'm too tired of caring.
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

Not caring anymore: for the season or indefinitely?

Gone for good with football. Happy to place my energy somewhere else.

SMU football attendance has been pretty weak ever since the Cowboys became competitive in the mid-60's. I was really excited when Ford was built because I thought it would be perfect for SMU. We were always out of place in Texas Stadium and the Cotton Bowl, but I really thought we could generate 25-30k crowds pretty consistently, even playing in the WAC, CUSA & AAC. Appears I grossly overestimated our potential fan base but I hate to give up. We've seen what TCU was able to accomplish before they got the Big XII invite.
Or...maybe we can just be a basketball school that plays football to pass the time as we anxiously await another basketball season

Why not just tie scholarship money to attendance? If students are too bored to attend the games, let them get a job and then they'll know what real boredom is!

I hate to punish the poor students. I say just give p/f class for those who sign in at 1st quarter and sign out at 4th quarter. One less class to study for and you can do that for fresh and soph semesters.

Better idea: develop a competitive/compelling product that will attract the students' attention

Shocked that winless UCONN team didn't bring more fans to the stadium to see if we could get that elusive 4th win of the season.

Over 400 yards of total offense in 8 out of 9 games. Do you even remember the Bennett and Cavan eras?
Are you bitchers and moaners doing your part?

Stop, Top Twenty. Who cares about yardage when we have 8,000 people in the stands (4k after halftime)? The people on this board ARE THE ONES THAT DO CARE.
Attendance (i.e., size of the fanbase) is, in my opinion, our #1 issue. We tried getting a coach to fix that and it didn't work - you have to admit that. What now? How many bullets are left in that gun?

We can't fix the fanbase. We will never have significantly more fans at games unless the opposition brings them. It is what it is.
