Oh, and don't do it for a crappy UConn team that nobody gives a hoot about.
Only marketing that should have been done today is for the UConn BB game.
Let's see....we are short on funds, so when we do spend the big bucks on uniform changes?, when only 9,000 fans show up, most of whom leave at halftime.
BRILLIANT

Which marquee game could we have chosen besides Tech? Our home schedule has stunk.
I think Rick is assembling parts for uniform combination options in the future...what is concerning is that we don't seem to be able to afford a complete "kit", only piece-meal. I see this as a sign that June will probably not be here next year. I don't think June is a fan of tribute jerseys.

Good point. Possibly none this year. But if SMU was the team it was suppose to be, I would have broken them out against TECH.
If you expect less than 15,000, it's simply not worth the effort. We have bigger problems.

Start tricking up the basketball uniforms. They already draw more attention nationally. Bottom line, just win.

Re: Ugliest Uniform Look Since Phil Bennett's Disaster
I think we looked like a Houston team. Not bad just not innovative. Many teams have color matching helmets, jerseys and even pants.
What I like, is we are experimenting with the best looks from our past. We are not doing bizarre combinations like Maryland or Oregon.
We take the helmets from the Fry era, jerseys from the Pony Express era and match them with the present era. I like that. We are giving kids options in the uniforms and honoring our past.
Some folks have issues that jones doesn't honor our past or traditions. Yet, this year, he has done something few teams have done and that is to take the traditions and glory form our past uniforms and present them to his team and us the fans. How many of us have longed for Pony Express jerseys. The Jerry Levis era helmets? Now, we are getting them and all we can do is whine about it.
We are not dreaming up uniforms that look like Max Factor and Andy Warhol were collaborating to make the most pop art uniform ever. We are experimenting with the best from our past and trying to find how to best incorporate that past with the present.
It may not be aesthetically pleasing, but at least we are acknowledging our past and trying to honor it as we move forward.

I agree we looked like Houston. This was just very "Blah."
It's not very hard to make us look good. White helmet, red Pony, red facemask. It's our "Classic" look. It's a disntinctive classy look. Blue jerseys, no stripes or other junk. White pants, with or without striping. If we want an alternate, we should do a red jersey that mirrors the blue one. And the red needs to be deeper instead of that scarlet thing. Our colors are Harvard Red and Yale Blue. They are pretty good colors that show up well on the field. And of course wour white travel jerseys with the red numbers. No colored pants. No weird shoulder stripes. No black. Keep it simple, clean and classy.

Support the Commitment! We're all SMU Mustangs fans- we should all be committed!

The uniforms weren't horrible, just boring and nondescript.
IF YOURE GOING TO CHANGE YOUR UNIFORM DO SOMETHING WITH IT.
Have gaudy, trendy, taken chrome helmets like Baylor, or pink unis for breast cancer awareness like Oregon did, or ugly grey things like Northwestern for Fallen Heroes, or throwback unis like we did for Rutgers, or SOMETHING. But boring pointless changes cost money, bring no new excitement or media coverage and just leave us scratching our heads.

Couldn't agree more.
I'm all for modernizing the uniforms a little bit if the kids want that, but the basic look needs to be white helmet, red pony, blue jersey, white pants. All white aways. If you want to do something cool with the number font, or have "Pony Up" written on the undershirt sleeves, go for it. I'd like to see us put the state of Texas on top of the names on the back of the jersey, kind of like what Tennessee did this year with their state outline. "SMU" needs to be on the front in big letters, though.
Make the Pony on the helmet pink for one Breast Cancer awareness home game, and make it the American flag for the game on Veterans Day Weekend. So easy to do. C'mon, athletic department.

ME THREE

Phil Bennett's disaster might not have been if we had worn red helmets.

May the forth be with us.

Agree.
