Well then Stallion keep your Coog King
Re: Football attendance in perspectiveBut CK did assure us that UH would take care of business against Louisville and Central Florida on their way to the greatest season is the history of ever. Good thing they got that bullsh*t PI call at the end of the game at home against USF otherwise that might be another loss. I mean you don't just go down to Robertson Stad....errr I mean Dynamo Stad...errr I mean Reliant and get a win in front of a bunch of kids who couldn't get into Texas Tech.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Re: Football attendance in perspectiveTalk about good timing... From another thread:
"Unfortunately, our nation is presently in a place where a person cannot hold an opinion without being blasted by those holding the opposing view. Those on each side of an issue believe that their opinions are facts and, dangerously, should not be opposed. It’s a mentality of “my way or the highway,†with only invective thrown about and no true discourse or debate. This type of cultural behavior is causing divisiveness and can have fatal results for our country. Remember that America’s infrastructure isn’t based on one-way streets." – Craig James "It’s hard to overstate how impressive SMU has been on the recruiting trail since the ACC announced the Mustangs would be joining the league”

Re: Football attendance in perspectiveI think when we talk about attendance its wise to keep in mind its the SMU culture. Even if we were kicking tail week in and week out, we wouldn't sell out? Evidence you ask? Grab a media guide if you will. Check the Pony Express home attendance figures. Go on. And that was a Top 10 team! And that includes the Longhorns, Aggies, and Razorbacks. Take those teams out, and our attendance has been pathetic since Doak and Kyle at the Cotton Bowl.
The biggest problem with attendance are SMU fans...scratch that..SMU affiliated people. And before you start crying about how you attend. You and all the posters on this board are the exceptions.

why am i always the exeption and never the rule? ![]()
Re: Football attendance in perspective
I have made almost this exact post on several occasions. However, in Pony Express days we played in a 65,000 seat stadium and unless we had the big boys in we had 30-35,000. If we had 65,000, at least 35,000 was from the other side. Move that number over to Ford and we would look good. We did hold our own in the 30,000 range back in those days and that is where we need to get now. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Football attendance in perspectiveI'm not worried about selling out games, I'm worried that currently you can have a whole section to yourself.
Kick Tail and have a legit 25k a saturday. And please do it before mrydel dies.
Re: Football attendance in perspective
And that has been my point since Ford was built; it's the perfect size for SMU and I really thought we could generate a loyal following in the 20-25k range which along with some visitors and a few casual DFW football fans (or some 1st timers lured by promotional endzone deals), we could create an impressive gameday atmosphere. That has to be the goal if we want to compete with the big boys of college football. We clearly will NEVER compete attendance wise with our larger public school competitors because we have nowhere near the number of interested living graduates...and never will. Moody will rock again soon; hopefully Ford will follow.
Re: Football attendance in perspective
We have played at multiple venues and still outdrew SMU. Remind me again who SMU has beaten this year and for the record, our admission standards have surpassed Tech's.
I agree. It's not every day a true freshman throws for almost 3,000 yards and has a 24-6 td to int ratio. UH is Quarterback U (Ware, Klingler, Kolb, Keenum and potentially O'Korn) and Head Coach U (Yeoman, Pardee, Briles, Sumlin, Holgerson, Kingsbury, Spavital and potentially Levine) He is considered the top true fresh qb and player in the country. The sky is the limit with this kid.

Re: Football attendance in perspective
35% of our 2013 freshman class graduated in the Top 10% compared to tech's 27%. Our average freshman SAT (math + cr only) is 1140 while Tech's is 1100.
