It's going to be tough to beat USF on the road for this team. On paper, we should. But I don't see this team winning another game unfortunately (USF is better than they look/have some athletes, UH on the road, and UCF who could be playing for a BCS bowl).
I would have loved to have seen Burcham get a whole ton of reps this season. I think it would have done nothing but help him grow and develope. Unfortunately, games we hoped we would stomp our opponents didn't happen.
Taking a longer view of this... I worry, more tha the average, about the opening of next season. Burcham will still be working himself up to game speed.
Saying we should bench Gilbert due to soreness is the equivalent of saying a&m should bench johnny for an "easy" sec road game... both teams aren't the same w/o their number one guys

Don't think any of us are worried about Gilbert; we're more worried about the mentally deranged suggestion that we should bench him to give Burcham reps because either people have given up the season as a lost cause or they think USF is a "gimme" win. Neither is the case, so let the man play and let Neal wait his turn.

Burcham has definitely impressed -- in practice. The talent is obvious, and he's starting to look like a college QB rather than the skinny kid who came to the Hilltop 2 years ago. But you can't bench the #1 (statistically) QB in the nation and hope there will be no drop off in performance. The odds against that happening are beyond staggering.
I'm excited to see Burcham in game conditions too, but I'd be more excited if it was in mop-up time at the end of a game or next fall after a spring and fall of taking 1st team practice reps.

Come to the games and then you can talk. Are you saying Neal Burcham cannot play? Why should we not start him?!
hahaha, I have been to every game for the last 4 years. Both home and away, including hawaii. GG gives us the best chance to win, even with a sore shoulder. Neal can obviously play but the deciding factor in college football and this offense in especially is understanding. practice reps only get you so far. even if GG is 75% his experience and understanding of the offense give us the best chance to win. Even if neal is 100%. Please know who you're talking to before you make asinine attacks concerning this football program.

Unfortunately, asinine attacks and random craziness are sort of his identity on PF, which is what makes it so hard to filter through to discover the few legitimate points he brings to the conversation from time to time.
