We do listen. To your point about student groups, we did meet with the IFC & PanHellenic presidents last spring as well as the student body president for this very reason. We recognize the need to connect with all student organizations and will continue these efforts.

SMUSIC 07 wrote:Party zone: not sure if a north end zone party deck is a feasible option without major renovation, but it's a fabulous idea. It's a great way to get people from the Boulevard interested in coming to the game, and I'm sure many non-fans or apathetics would adopt SMU football as their own if the atmosphere is inviting and energetic....and had booze.
I don't know how expensive it would be, I'm not a contractor or anytihng. Just rip out the seats in the top half of the north endzone above the concourse entrances. Make it a tiered "standing room" area and have the full bar be where the top rows of seats are now. Get a few electrical outlets for TVs and such, and a few tables and chairs for those who want to sit. Throw a red and blue striped awning on top and get some misting machines for hot games early in the season.
Bottom line- people in Dallas like to drink and socialize. If they want to do so inside Ford Stadium while SMU is playing, fine by me.
EDIT: Charge $10/game cover charge to get in next year....$25 for TCU game. Or give people the option of a season pass to the "Pony Pub" (thanks to my kindred spirit PonyinNC for the name) for $50...once inside, they'll buy drinks and make more profit for the school.

The south endzone just offers an opportunity to accommodate a lot more people.
Also, are those operable windows in the Club or fixed glass? Open or remove the glass and build a glass wall behind the seats. You could still pump some A/C in there or use fans or misters so they're comfortable. I would bet that most members would enjoy the better engagement with the game and the game sure could use their participation as another 500? noisy fans.
SID, glad you're talking to "some" students. You just need to cast a larger net.

Someone made a remark in the Boulevard thread about dogs- what if we had dog day at Ford? I know some MLB parks do this. Make it for a crappy conference game like USF or Memphis next year and let people bring their dogs, have a dog show competition at halftime, give out Mustang "Doggy Bags" with treats and a collar or something for every person that brings a dog in, etc. Maybe even have a $1,000 NorthPark gift card to whoever's dog had the most SMU spirit....girls would be flocking in left and right with their canines. Might require some extra clean up afterwards which I'm not volunteering for, but could be another way to get some people in the game. If pro baseball teams can pull it off, I'm sure we could.

NOO NOOO NOOOOOOOO! We are not ripping up the northern endzone seats to build a bar. In any case use that empty south endzone where we have those food trucks and build the bar there...we are packing the house because we are competitive, not because we pay people or beg them to go there

Ok but let's charge admission for the pups and let them hang out and [deleted] and [deleted] on the grass.

You do know that the concourse is right below those seats...and you can't have a bar there...

They need to get rid of the no reentry...people would go tailgate for abit during halftime and have the option to be back in the stadium. Lots of schools do this, they should get rid of that no reentry policy.

I still do this.... buy two tix and you can too. You give more money to the university, help attendance numbers, and get to reload on brews for the second half.

And if you buy cheap end zone seats, it is not expensive. Use your GA tickets for reentry.
Just send 'da money.

"Pony Pub"

It has to be open to the game like a bar patio, not a closed tent. A large open area to mill about in with bet sales becomes an extension of the Boulevard, a closed tent does not.

That works, too. I think that would really look cool in the north endzone. Have two or three tiers of tables and standing room area, TVs, and a full bar. I really think the Pony Pub would be a huge hit.
