Obviously hadn't done his homework as to what's going on in the SMU program the last several years with JJ's 'no effort in recruiting'.
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

Keep an eye on: SMU. Heading into this season, June Jones led the Mustangs to four consecutive bowl berths. That hadn't happened at SMU since boosters handed out Camaros like Tic Tacs. Jones has struggled this year, however, as the Mustangs are 4-5 with dim bowl prospects. It would be a shame if SMU pondered a move, but the school has a long track record of questionable decisions. (And a memory of Jones' flirtations with Arizona State.) Could Jones head back to Hawaii if that job opens up? If this position does become available, the top candidate would be Clemson's Morris, especially considering the success of former high school coaching prodigies Briles and Gus Malzahn. Another strong name would be Ohio State's Herman, who cut his teeth at Texas, Texas State, Sam Houston State and Rice. The Urban Meyer pedigree would likely be intriguing. Other potential coordinator names: Arizona State offensive coordinator Mike Norvell, Texas A&M offensive coordinator Clarence McKinney and Baylor offensive coordinator Philip Montgomery.

Interesting that Chad Morris is at the top of the list. I figure that he would land a much bigger gig. Maybe he could come here for two years, land a mid-tier SEC job, a-la Malzahn

I just hope we dont turn into arkansas state where a coach leaves after one year three consecutive seasons. However, I always felt that with our high payroll it wasn't as big of an issue compared to some of these non p 5 schools.

We should be so lucky to someday have a coach that is good enough to get hired away...hasn't happened in my lifetime and I'm 32.

Yep. We're not Michigan or Florida State. This isn't a destination job. Hell, coaches have left jobs at Tennessee and Alabama for other college jobs. Who do we think we are?

Their last 2 coaches were hired by SEC schools after winning conference titles. Sounds like a better situation than we have with a guy that can't win a conference title or get a better job.

SMU could be a wonderful job for the right head coach. Just how many million does a coach need. Why is any talk Saban would leave Alabama? The challenge? The expectations? The money? He has nowhere to go but down since he is already at the top. If the fan support was better SMU would be a fantastice place for any player or coach. Quality of life and as a place to raise a family or work is fantastic.

True. Try trying to convince the wife and kids to leave Highland Park for Fayetteville or Stillwater

This writer is an idiot and clearly hasn't followed SMU. How it would it be a shame to trade JJ for any of the names he listed? SMH.
