Not quite the same anal landscaping we have today! Two questions maybe someone can answer: What building is this: And when did SMU stop having wild bonfires!? Not sure on the answer to either question but to the first, I will take a stab and guess....is the building maybe part of the old engineering building? Used to be where the current one stands today?

Yeah Im pretty sure that was the "science and computing center" or whatever it was called. The long one story building that ran North-South behind the Business school and the East end of Boaz. Up until 2002, I think, it was still ME, EE, and CSE labs.

I would believe that. I should know as many hours as I spent in there... I can't remember it's official name either. I sure wish I would have kept a course registration book with a map of campus.

couch 'em wrote:MYSTERY SOLVED If you look at this portion of an old county soil map you can see the creek going through campus, highlighted in yellow: Note the orientation of streets southwest of campus. This arrangement still exists and should be familiar to all of us. It is the creek flowing between Drexel and St. Johns. A pretty substantial creek. Also, here is a pic of campus with the creek/treeline visble. No idea when this pic is from, I found it online years ago and saved it.
Did we build the football stadium before Dallas Hall?

That looks like a substantial building where the outdoor pool is now. I have seen it on other pics and it disappears not long after perkins gym is built. I wonder what it is.

I believe it is Old Gym. Here is the interior: http://digitalcollections.smu.edu/cdm/s ... /527/rec/4

Whoops, looks like the Old Gym is the building on the NE corner of Binkley and Ownby, per this 1926 map: http://digitalcollections.smu.edu/cdm/s ... 586/rec/20

I know the bowling alley was still in the Umphrey Lee Student Center at least up until the mid 70's. Not sure when they took it out.
